...is the right answer! Very popular annual "Old Timer's" fly-In and former Sturzkampfgeschwader 1 Stuka base in WW2.

Over to you!

Thanks Mark1,

The Stukas were there only shortly.
They staged dive bombing attacks on ships in the Canal but suffered to high losses due to British fighters.
From then hardly used by the Germans. Allied forces used it again during Market Garden (a bridge to far)

Correct Dook,
They have a nice Naval air museum over there.
Not for a whole day, but definitely worth stopping by for a few hours.
Call in advance to get an English guide.

My guide had been flying army helicopters.
He explained the full Colonel’s landing to me.
(fixed wing)
Additional points if you can explain that one.

Cheers SLB

Many thanks Slb.

Aircraft ID helped, followed by "gate guardian".

Bourn, UK.

(As posted by me in the 'original' thread ;)) - https://www.pprune.org/aviation-hist...ml#post3470442

Out of interest, where did you find the picture?

dook 2nd Nov 2018 19:14

I found it where you have said above.

Nicely found and all yours.

Background Noise 2nd Nov 2018 19:25

Interesting, I see it with a photobucket watermark. OH.

dook 2nd Nov 2018 19:29

That's even more interesting because I don't use Photobucket.

Presumably your original upload was through Photobucket.

Is this Fokker in it's and your homeland ?

Self loading bear 3rd Nov 2018 12:03

Although these looks typical Cumulus for which our Dutch painters are so famous, no it is not in my homeland.

dook 3rd Nov 2018 17:04

Can you please confirm it is a Fokker.

Self loading bear 3rd Nov 2018 18:54

Dook,
why would I?
Is your aircraft determination getting sloppy?
look at the semi oval just aft of the cabin and how far the cockpit is in front of the leading edge.
I am certain you will get your answer.

Cows getting bigger 3rd Nov 2018 19:15

Looks like a Ford Trimotor to me.

dook 3rd Nov 2018 20:02

What's been bugging me are the lights in the wing leading edge.

I'll stick with the Fokker though based on the cockpit, which is quite unlike the Ford.

But...………..I don't think it's going to help.
