'artnoon Cgb.
It looks fairly small and civilian only. May I assume we are not in the USA ? |
You would assume correctly. Many of the aircraft seen wouldn't be found in the USA. Does this help?

Somewhere in the far East or Russia ?
|
No. Another part of the airport.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4901/...df89fe0a_c.jpg In the past, notebooks and binoculars haven't been overly welcomed. |
I think I see an Ilyushin Il-76 so maybe China.

Is that 747 an Iranian example? Iran would suit the mix of types

So might India.

Regarding mgahans post #9520, the signed document states "The Southern Cloud was a sister ship to the Southern Cross and they are identical."
The Southern Cloud, built in 1930, was an Avro 618 "Ten" a licensed-built Fokker tri-motor. Avro modified the centre motor mounting to accommodate British airworthiness requirements. The Avro "Ten" was powered by more powerful 240-hp Armstrong Siddeley Lynx motors. The Southern Cross, built in 1926, was a Fokker F.VIIb/3m, which began life as the "Detroiter", a Polar exploration aircraft of the Detroit News - Wilkins Arctic Expedition. The Fokker was powered by 3 Wright J-5 Whirlwinds, producing 220-hp each. Fokker also sourced some cockpit instruments from manufacturers different than those on the Avro. |
Wrong corner gentleman, i saw Jet Asia plane on the overhead cut out. Jet Asia HS-JAS has flown from Fujairah UAE to Malta to pick-up Libyan refugees. Cheers SLB |

You can see the difference in: the Armstrongs where 7 piston radials The Wright’s were 9 cilinder engines. I also think the cockpit window frames are wider and flatter on the Avros then on the Fokkers SLB |
We're getting warmer. Many of the aircraft are painted white because of their previous roles although there has been little need for such activity here for a few generations.
