I'll take a guess at Lyneham. 216 Sqn were the only RAF operators of the 4 and were based at Lyneham.

dook 29th Oct 2018 19:19

216 disbanded on 30 June 1975.

Their aeroplanes were taken to Leconfield from Lyneham.

This might be interesting...…..

Has one of us won the prize ?

dook 29th Oct 2018 20:22

I wasn't sure from your words though.

Standby briefly please....

looks more colonial to me.
Are those palmtrees in front of the fairly steep cliff in the background?

SLB

dook 29th Oct 2018 21:41

It's not Canada and SLB has a good point.

However, I don't think they are palm trees but it's possible.

dook 29th Oct 2018 22:18

Had to look that up.

Not Africa.

Nah ,Jenks,that was `Twin Palm trees...`

ea200 30th Oct 2018 00:39

Well, I still think it's a WW2 training field and if it's not Africa I have to guess at Oz. Another wild stab, Benalla?

Hyderabad, Begumpet aerodrome, India. The old terminal building, built in 1937, still stands today. Here is another view of Begumpet Airport:https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....3aa241c7a6.jpg

Good to see you on here evansb! This was a most enjoyable thread back in the days when you (and so many others) would post pix you had taken of aerodromes in passing.

Cheers

This one also looks fairly colonial and is it my imagination or do they drive on the left ?

evansb 30th Oct 2018 15:08

Yes, they drive on the left.
