I'll start the narrowing-down process with a shot at Egypt? If I'm right, I'll have to leave it at that, as the only airfields I am aware of there are Cairo, Alexandria and the ones Thomas Cook fly to :)

Good starting guess, but it isn't in Egypt - a bit too warm. It is in the Mediterranean theatre though.
