I shall think out of the box...... the Benelux?
|
The Benelux is correct.
|
the field pattern is distinctive - very "modern" so possibly recovered from the sea in the last 100 years - like around Lelystad.
Thought t might be Middenmeer but can't see any large wind turbines close to it |
Not Middenmeer I'm afraid, in fact not in The Netherlands.
|
looks too flat for the Duchy of Luxembourg so that leaves Belgium?
|
Correct, it's in Belgium.
|
Hoevenen Airfield - right by the docks in N Antwerp
OH if correct |
Hoevenen it is. Open House declared.

Just one hop further away from Bergen op Zoom than Woensdrecht
I found the polders along the River Schelde date back till the 17th century Nice challenge Teus! |
Here's an interesting one. There's a clue in the dark object surrounding the runway.

India 42 = Canada = Rockies = big fence
No Red blooded Canadian would be worried about people, rabbits, wild pigs, beavers or even deer on the runway - so something BIGGER - an Elk perhaps? Which takes us to Sparwood/Elk Valley Airport (CYSW) in BC I think OH if correct |
"Elementary, my dear Watson."
Elk Valley it is indeed and the valley is well named. The anti-Elk fence is at least 8' high. I flew in for the first time with a friend in August. It is a bit disconcerting on short final when you cross the fence. The valley is home to a couple of open-cast coal mines and these are not just holes in the ground. Whole mountains are being demolished! Sherlock Asturias has declared Open House. |
Thank you Mycroft........... I see what you mean about those mines - must be over 5 kms across - not very scenic
What age are the coals? |
Here's some serious thread drift. The coals are in the Mist Mountain Formation of the Jura-Cretaceous Kootenay Group.

To stay in line with the thread drift:
Wild boars have performed opencast mining on this Ultra Light airfield. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....7d003b719.jpeg |
Looks like your average airstrip in PNG/W Irian...................
