Bit of a mess. If someone else want to jump in before I can post a new "old" aerodrome, please do.

nvubu 21st Sep 2017 23:01

My guess is this won't last long. Not an old one this time around.

Situated between a pretty big river and some wooded hills at right. One long-looking runway (or maybe two parallel ones) with a lot of airfield buildings but no big apron, so I'm thinking military-built. Would that be the old CFB Lahr, or Baden Aeropark or whatever it's called these days?

India Four Two 22nd Sep 2017 03:30

I think jensdad has it - it looks like Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, but it was not CFB Lahr, which is further upstream. It was RCAF/CFB Baden–Soellingen.

nvubu 22nd Sep 2017 06:40

jensdad has it, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport it is, over to you.

jensdad 22nd Sep 2017 20:48

I just scraped over the line with that one. I really thought that this airfield was the old CFB Lahr. You live and learn!

Was it at one point called 'Baden Aeropark' or something similar? I'm sure one of the refurbished Cold War fields in Germany was called something like that... maybe I dreamt it :) EDIT: The business enterprise that owns it is called 'Baden Airpark'.

Nothing to hand so OPEN HOUSE.

Very good - what took you so long?

Are you familiar with the place?

Bill Macgillivray 25th Sep 2017 20:14

Jenks,

Would that have been the Rawdah Bowl, perhaps? Very challenging in the Skyvan but very impressive!!!

Doubt it'll last long................

sidtheesexist 29th Sep 2017 03:54

Well now, looks like an A320/319 wing.....small, regional airport type architecture, grey leaden, overcast skies, a bit damp.......some coniferous trees maybe?
Long shot, somewhere in the Northern hemisphere??!!
Am I warm ?

Heathrow Harry 29th Sep 2017 07:37

Correct on all counts ... so far.................

Harry Wayfarers 29th Sep 2017 10:33

Those church spires in the background look like they are somewhere in the old Hapsburg empire. Some big mountains there as well that look like they are to the North-ish of the airfield. Kosice?

Heathrow Harry 29th Sep 2017 15:09

might be the old Hapsburg area - certainly close - but not Kosice

kcockayne 29th Sep 2017 16:25

A stab in the dark ...... Timisoara ?

Heathrow Harry 29th Sep 2017 16:37
