It looks like a relatively small town at Right, but some of the housing looks quite monumental in scale. For that reason, I'm going to start the narrowing-down process by going for Eastern Bloc.
Right continent, wrong side of it though.
Tengah in S'pore?
I assumed by Eastern Bloc JD meant Europe :)
This it's more like France or Portugal?
It is in France
Here's an image from 100 years ago - when it wasn't in France

Does that put it in the Saarland ?
I'd bid Alsace, (which was Germany when my great grandparents lived there!) and Strassbourg-Entzheim as a possible answer.
You are close with Strassbourg-Entzheim.
The tree line at the top of the old image and the road layout are still recognisable. |
Kaltenhouse/Haguenau???
Hagueau it is. Over to you HH.

Somewhere bloody cold.
How about Orebro in Sweden. |
Interesting shadow across the runway....?
Looks a bit too hilly to be Orebro but I stand to be corrected. I'm going for Kiruna.
Kiruna it is - Jensdad's turn
And here is the cause of the well spotted shadow Sycamore http://www.pprune.org/members/326184...-18-161134.jpg |
Thanks HH,thought it might be a very tall flagpole,,or a banner tow...
I definitely need to stick the lottery on. Just went for Kiruna as it was one of the few airports I know of in the hilly bit of Sweden.
