Haha it took me a while, which is surprising as I was there less than a year ago. Anyway, here's a picture I took a couple of years back; one of my more artistic shots. :)

Wow - V Pretty - dawn or dusk?

Cows getting bigger 22nd Apr 2018 09:23

A November dusk.

Heathrow Harry 22nd Apr 2018 11:06

hmm - N hemisphere = East - West or WSW - ENE runway - only edge lights only .....

Not much in the way of local lighting either

chevvron 22nd Apr 2018 13:23

Looking west; apron on the south side so not Macrihanish!
Looks like there's provision (pier) for APP lights but they're not turned on.

mustbeaboeing 22nd Apr 2018 14:51

Bit of a guess.

Liverpool LPL (EGGP). Open House if correct

Heathrow Harry 22nd Apr 2018 15:26

Don't think so- the lighting extension to the centre line is a the WEST end of Speke not the east as in the picture - plus Speke itself would be all lit up - unless of course someone has stolen all the street lighting...................:cool:

minuteman 22nd Apr 2018 15:26

I think that it's Eglinton EGAE; alas I have no challenge to offer to so I would have to declare Open House if correct...

Heathrow Harry 22nd Apr 2018 15:40

Looks in the OP as if there is water off the west end of the runway - so maybe not EGAE - again , not street lights and here no sign of the A2 to the left of the shot.....

I did think of Bantry Bay but it looks a bit too big for that

eckhard 22nd Apr 2018 15:54

I agree with minuteman. Eglinton with some fog on the north and west.

Heathrow Harry 22nd Apr 2018 16:30

fog as well! tres artistic indeed...................

Cows getting bigger 22nd Apr 2018 19:47

Minuteman has it, Derry/Londonderry/Eglington. We were in a bit of a rush to land as the fog claimed-in about 10 minute later. Minuteman has declared Open House.

A very good photo, CGB, but at risk of being pedantic, have we not had it on here before? I remember thinking Machrihanish (not sure if I posted my guess or not) will check later.
Edit: Yeah it's been on before, Jan 2016. Apologies for pedantry: Like I say a very good photo, definitely worth a second outing!!

Cows getting bigger 23rd Apr 2018 13:29

I lose track. Sorry!

Can I ask how you got it???

India Four Two 29th Apr 2018 20:14

I didn’t see the picture before SMOKEON guessed correctly. However, Argentia would have been my guess. Disused runway with barren rocky terrain in the background. Newfies will often refer to their home land as The Rock.

Please excuse the following Canadian pedantry. It’s one word - Newfoundland and the pronunciation is assisted by this piece of doggerel:

”It’s Newfoundland,
Understand?”
