India Four Two 28th Oct 2011 16:09

Hi DB,

Trying to narrow it down, SE Asia?

Ridge Runner 28th Oct 2011 16:24

Clark AFB???? If correct, OH

Duckbutt 28th Oct 2011 16:25

And good evening to you Mr India and to you RR. Sorry, neither SE Asia, or Clark.

Duckbutt 28th Oct 2011 16:43

With the proximity of Fiddlers Ferry and Runcorn Jenks, did they ever have sunny days at Burtonwood!

jindabyne 28th Oct 2011 17:29

Ogden-Hill AFB?

Duckbutt 28th Oct 2011 18:44

Not Ogden-Hill, Jindabyne

Duckbutt 29th Oct 2011 18:04

Although this airfield is in current use it seems probable that it hasn't been used by the USAF for some years.

WE992 29th Oct 2011 18:52

Palm Beach Air Force Base, FL.

Duckbutt 30th Oct 2011 08:26

Not Palm Beach I'm afraid.

Duckbutt 30th Oct 2011 11:57

Another pic taken at this airfield:

sabredog 30th Oct 2011 13:04

Wheelus AFB,Lybia, 1961.

Duckbutt 30th Oct 2011 13:56

You got it Sabredog, and have control.

sabredog 30th Oct 2011 14:03

Thank you,DB.
Open House.

Aero Mad 30th Oct 2011 14:15

Aero Mad 30th Oct 2011 16:29

Quick off the mark! It is indeed... over to you again.

flyingwing 31st Oct 2011 11:11

Early days at Croydon?

sabredog 31st Oct 2011 12:34

Yes,indeed. But not too far.

flyingwing 31st Oct 2011 13:57

Hendon perhaps?

sabredog 31st Oct 2011 14:30

Not Hendon,Flyingwing. Further East still.

flyingwing 31st Oct 2011 17:06

Hm. Rochester?

sabredog 31st Oct 2011 17:41

Not Rochester Airport. Try across the Channel,Flyingwing

jindabyne 31st Oct 2011 18:48

Slightly confusing clues sabre?

sabredog 31st Oct 2011 19:07

Why so,Jindabyne?

jindabyne 31st Oct 2011 19:27

Yes,indeed. But not too far Yes to what? And 'not too far' implies that it is reasonably near. Now we're across the Channel. But I suppose that could be described as 'near' in global terms though. It's just me - forget it!

sabredog 31st Oct 2011 19:55

I now see what you are alluding to,Jindabyne, and I agree that my post#706 is confusing. It was in reply to another post (not #705) that has now been either deleted or amended. All very mysterious!
The airfield is in France.

jindabyne 31st Oct 2011 22:14

Aah! Thank you for that sabre :ok:

Lordflasheart 1st Nov 2011 14:03

Wild guess - Le Bourget ? OH if correct. LFH

sabredog 1st Nov 2011 16:44

Sorry,LordFlasheart. Not Le Bourget.

Lordflasheart 1st Nov 2011 18:47

Don't be sorry SD. Next wild guess - Villeneuve-Orly from 1932 - those might be Eugene Freyssinets concrete airship hangars from 1923-26 ? Apparently he was a professional concrete freak. LFH

sabredog 1st Nov 2011 19:05

Good try, Lordflasheart, but not Villeneuve-Orly, and no connection with Airships,Blimps etc.

jindabyne 1st Nov 2011 23:22

Possibly Lille?
