Atyrau airport in Kazakhstan
|
I think sabredog has the correct answer.
They drive on the left, it is in a desert ( Betpak Dala ) and the google images of the airfield tie up with the posted picture. |
And, apparently, it is not enough to know that there is a long lens effect, one needs to read it correctly. Almost only airport in Kazachstan that I DID NOT look at :ugh:.
As an ex-Soviet state, I don't think they drive on the left, however….. And the altitude is -72 ft Minus 72 feet (StressFree probably has fits of laughter right now), and the other (Right this direction) runway is not active. The latitude was not bad, though, 47°N. |
Sabredog, yes its Atyrau in Kazakhstan :D
Somewhere that I fly to several times a year. Over to you sir. Reg, its a grim place in the winter. We usually go from here to Uralsk, which is FAR worse. The boss is an oil man and theres lots in this area.......even at -72'. :O |

(passing resemblance to Blackebush, Farnborough) |

Lugano Airport.
|
Definately Lugano.

Not Lugano either I'm afraid.
Ernie's Cafe at Friday Harbour should give you a clue.;) |
Stewards enquiry needed, this photo is of Lugano, 100%.
|
Okay, conflicting information.
I looked for a photo of Narsarsuaq, otherwise known as Bluie West One and found this picture, Narsarsuaq Airport On closer scrutiny, it seems that this picture is actually Lugano, so saberdog has control. My apologies.:uhoh: |
Friday Harbour Airport!!!
|
Thank you, Swinty.
The Web often speaks with fork tongue! Open House |
If you ever read any of Ernest Kellog Ganns books then the clue "Ernies Cafe at Friday Harbour" would have been relevant.
Gann wrote about his first flight to Bluie West One in the 40's and the cafe was named after him.:) |
Here is a pair of aerodromes not mentioned in Fate is the Hunter:

Thanks sabredog.:ok:
Try this one. Should be quick and easy. http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af92/skwinty/ba.jpg I see this has been on before. It was not listed under airfield name though, So OPEN HOUSE |
I think we have had this Shorty before, skwinty, you may wish to try another one.
OK, I withdraw my case. I think we had it as Saba Cove Netherland Antilles |
Definately Saba Cove.
|
I looked for "Juancho Yrausquin Airport" on the list and it wasn't there, hence i posted the picture.
I looked again on the list and saw Saba cove, looked for an image and it was the same. So, I retracted the image and declared open house as my punishment.:ok: New aerodrome please.:hmm: |
