Headcorn,

Thats a name from the past, anyone remember Chris Freeman who used to run it? He sat there doing the R/T and taking landing fees, always with two Jack Russels on his lap?

I haven't been there for well over 20 years................

Astra SPx 7th Oct 2011 18:17

Reg Dep you have it ---

RegDep 8th Oct 2011 17:30

Jindabyne, I am not.

I just Googled the string 'Runway 09' and there it was, return image No 43 after many gorgeous models on a catwalk. Without smoke, cloud or fog.

Hadn't I found it there, I had Googled 19 and 29.

Here is the next

The 'Old' Rhodos airport. Cannot remember it's name.
Just inland, south, of the present one LGRP.

OH if correct.

TheChitterneFlyer 10th Oct 2011 06:19

scotbill 10th Oct 2011 07:20

Rhodos (ex-international) Maritsa it is.
In the 60s approached through a saddle in the hills via NDB. Still recall my feeling of unease approaching in the dark with red lights visible in the hills above us.

Ridge Runner 11th Oct 2011 09:30

East coast, USA?

RegDep 11th Oct 2011 10:22

Abandoned and little-known . . . .

sabredog 11th Oct 2011 12:45

Not East Coast,Ridge Runner.
And it is yes to Regdep's query.

RegDep 11th Oct 2011 17:20

Sabredog, I think yours is Benbrook Field, Benbrook, TX, nowadays a housing development, like so many are……

The Royal Canadian Flying Corps (Sic!) established this airfield in 1917, as one of three fields in the Fort Worth area where it trained pilots for WW1 (the other 2 fields were Hicks Field & Barron Field).

This airfield was initially known as Taliaferro #2, and was also known as Carruthers Field.

sabredog 11th Oct 2011 18:51

Correct,Regdep.
YHC.

RegDep 11th Oct 2011 19:32
