As an aside, the "mothership" carrying the M1 looks more like one of the two He 274s (4 engined He 177s) that the French used until the mid 1950's than a Languedoc.

Well I can tell you what it is not, the Hughes H-4 aka Spruce Goose. That is what I thought at first glance. There were not many seaplanes with eight engines made.

And so you should RR! That'll do me for the answer. One of many Blohm und Voss flying-boat projects, this was the P.200. A triple-deck monster that stored a Volkswagen in the nose compartment for the crews use...once it was unloaded that is!
