Thanks LM...a spin off from the original Lockheed/Macchi AL60.
I'm off air for a couple of hours, so I'll leave you with this fine looking machine. Who will get it first?

What a busy little lot you all were yesterday. There were some very interesting challenges that I am sorry to have missed. I feel sorry for Mel when he makes the next update to aircraft use list. I thought that the VW in the BV 200 was for getting from front to back as quickly as possible.
For the current challenge can I suggest the Kawasaki Ki-61 "Hein/Tony", possibly the proposed Ki-61-III version?

Evening S'land and LM. Just returned from watching the latest Harry Potter saga with the family. What a depressing ending?!
I don't think it's Japanese S'land. I believe we're back to Yugoslavia with what looks like the IKARUS (VTI) S-49C.

And for those who don't know it, the photo that Noyade posted was at the excellent Belgrade Museum. Jugoslavia has a rich aviation heritage and most of it is shown there. A must for anyone going to that area.

I looked at that too Noyade, but I cannot find one of that series which does not have a cooling intake under the engine.
Were you or are you a religious collector of your home grown Air International magazine? If so, check out the "Fighter A to Z" entries for February 1983 which shows the rear fuselage intake for the S-49C in a three-view which matches skytrain10's on page 99.
And being a lazy bastard, this next challenge appears on the same page.
I have this uncanny ability to pick poor choices for my challenges and need to research them better before posting. It would appear that the general arrangement of this aircraft was highly speculative back in 1983 and even now it's debatable as no photos exist. Even the designation changes with each source and time period. It is Russian but not MiG or Yak. The Bureau responsible is more famous for its bombers, ground attack and transport aircraft.
1983
1994 (Note the change in cockpit location, wing planform and fin shape)

So now that we have two pics, which one are we looking at?
I'm poring over Ilyushin.....
The image below seems to fit the old 3-view version.
Gladly handing control over to you LM.
Thanks Noyade, and good evening.
History is supposed to be about facts, and I agree the designations around do have conflictions. The nearest I could get was the Il-1, but something wasn't quite right.
Here's another to keep things running, and I sure it won't last long.
