S'land's Challenge
A very interesting aircraft. Was it ever built? The fin and rudder profile is very similar to that of the Miles Falcon and Merlin however wing and tailplane plan considerably different. Is the engine a de Havilland Gipsy variant?

As Mel says, very interesting. There are "familiar" features on this aircraft. The fin and wing resemble the DH88. There is also an likeness to the Bristol 143, and the fin resembles a Bristol 146...

To take the queries in order:
1. The challenge aircraft is not an Italian design.
2. Production was started, but the first aircraft was not completed.
3. The engine was to be a Cirrus Hermes, 120 hp.
4. The aircraft was not British.
5. It is an amphibian, the wheels are housed in the floats.
6. It is not a Yakolev, AIR 11 or 18. However, we are in the right country.
Richard.

Thanks Mel....I totally ignored Shavrov when I was looking as I tend to associate them with flying boats with the engine above the fuselage. An excellent challenge but I'll wait for Richard to confirm.

Thanks Richard. The perfect challenge...an aircraft which bears a lot of hallmarks of something built in one country, and yet it was built somewhere else. And on top of that it has no resemblance to other aircraft from the same manufacturer! Perhaps a little bit of Airspeed there too?
My offering follows shortly.
