Given the general shortage of qualified aircraft engineers in the industry i can’t see many leaving secure employment to join a company that doesn’t appear to have long to live.....

Well if heathrow are that upset by the loss perhaps it’s time they offered favorable terms to another airline to reinstate the route at lhr in direct competition with the gatwick flybe route
if newquay is that big a loss, stump up reduces landing fees etc and convince ww and ba to commit to x daily for x years in return for it.
Put up. Or shut up

If LHR were really bothered about the regions, all of them regions not just PSO would have airport charges reduced or abolished

or they don't. If they don't think it's worth investing in then let it die and any routes that have potential will soon be picked up as has happened time and time again.
Hmmm. There are plenty of ways to interpret those aspirations which don't result in the demise of FlyBe.
Since your (very recent) sign-up to this site, I can only see one (of 32) postings by yourself which is not on the subject of FlyBe. And you miss no opportunity to snipe at them. It appears to me that you have joined this site specifically to promote an anti-FlyBe agenda.

He probably works for one of the other airlines who see the FLYBE case as a gross distortion of the rules.......................

Sorry the FT links are behind a paywall Can you post the article please?
I would propose:
1) APD should be levied only once on a domestic return ticket (as happens with flights to/ from the Continent).
2) APD should be levied at a lower rate for domestic flights than for international.
3) EU261 compensation should be capped at 100% of ticket-price for domestic flights.
Or, better still, lobby to abolish APD altogether.
I would suggest that crippling levels of APD and excessive EU261 liabilities are key factors negatively impacting sustainable provision of domestic air travel in the UK. Without reform, we will soon be left with just slot-restricted London to Scotland / NI trunk routes and afew expensive PSO's. Don't hold your breath for a major expansion of domestic flying by Ryanair and EasyJet if the need arises to backfill FlyBe's network. Both have far more lucrative priorities to pursue with their valuable assets.

I don't know why you need to hesitate other than it is obvious that I am genuinely aggrieved at the manner in which FlyBE is being run. I've reported your post so a Moderator can investigate who needs censure. If you can't engage with me productively then don't engage with me.
