Dire as flybe’s situation is maintenance in my experience is never compromised and legally can not be . Operators have a legal responsibility to maintain the aircraft IAW with the prescribed schedules and cannot just decide to save a few quid and decide what they will and won’t do .

Guys. This site is a rumour network. As far as I can see no rules have been broken in questioning this deal or the viability of Flybe. Other users are well within their rights to disagree with bailing out a pretty consistently badly run airline. Let’s agree to disagree and focus on the discussion rather than reporting each other.

The Luxembourg add is a random one. Surely there are better gaps in the market to go for than LCY-LUX.

If the airline is to be saved then it is down to the shareholders to invest enough capital but it seems they don’t wish to do this despite deep pockets. The question has to be asked why?

Heathrow slots. If the poster is correct from a few days ago? 6th season ends in March, then they pass into Flybe ownership permanently. Cannot be true, can it?

Bosses claim company is about to go bust, go to Government with a begging bowl in order to survive. Short time later, also ask for a commercial loan, Gov says no, then the company folds and the bosses blame the Gov for not giving them the money and claim the Gov are the bad guys and it’s not our fault!

Absolutely no way the Gov should be giving financial support given the available cash of the shareholders, as has been said, there’s a very good reason they’re not stumping up their own cash!

Rumour has it that crews are being advised by base managers (low key internal announcement) that they will get the government loan/bailout. This will secure jobs for 3 years apparently. Hoping this is true and congratulations to all at BE.

And what base is this supposed low key internal announcement happening at? Certainly not what I have heard.

Please keep baseless rumours to a minimum

Hey dude,

I never stated it was a £100m loan. I hear it was a loan for the next 3 years. I agree though, it would have to be more like £500m to do that. Hell of a loan to repay though.

This is just what I have been told. As an ex employee myself (very fond of the old place too) I genuinely hope its true and it works out for you all there.

If the Government give in excess of £100mil over a 3 year period, then that really pushes the definition of state aid !!. I wouldn't expect the likes if IAG, RYR to just accept it.

Certainly nothing I'd want to put on here until it comes from official channels. Good news or bad. Just wait for an official announcement.

There was a base manager telling his crews all sorts of baseless rubbish a few weeks ago when the Sky News story first broke - I don't know if it's the same one, but there are people within the company willing to behave like that.

Equally, I'm not saying this isn't true - I hope for everyone involved that it is. Time will tell.

I'm pleased to see more supportive posts on this thread.
I knew Jack Walker and quite a few Jersey based crew who lost their jobs on 2014
I wish those working for the company well
Jom French should be stripped of his CBE
If itwasn't for his daft commitments to a large fleet of Embraersit ridiculous lease prices, this mess probably have not occured
