Well VS and DL are a double act and the JFK will be a shared route as we already know
UA is the weak one but AA with PHL/JFK and ORD do ok because there is plenty of cargo as well
Sorry fail to see where BA come into this other than they code share on AAs flights

DL / VS is a joint venture, I suspect that only one of them will operate the route - VS.

Similarly AA & BA with AA operating the route.

UA's EWR hub is strong and I see them remaining.

TCX?

Didn't I read that BA are reconfiguring some 777s to take over the AA routes. I don't think 757s carry that much cargo either. Oh and they don't seem to understand a timetable.

Surely the 777 is way to thick for the MAN operations, I don't think BA have any suitable fleet types since the 757/767 left. A321NEO in future maybe!! Would love to see BA back operating the US routes and more ex MAN mind.

Also rumour was Cityflyer were planning to operate some seasonal leisure routes ex MAN summer 2017 similar to STN!! Anyone have any further news on this?

I think they can see profits on the belly hold. Again just my opinion. The only problem that I can see is which terminal they use. I think a bit of jiggling and a move to T2 would work but that would possibly hold back VS expansion. Not sure, just me guessing.

Why would anyone wish for BA back. They have one serious route to LHR, which is shrinking. All their other routes are One World shares or flown on small 30 seat jets.

MAN needs to focus on its Terminals, double the arrival auto passport gates, 5 in each is pitiful. Also, somebody needs to get a grip on this 10 year Terminal upgrade, it is too late and too slow now. Once we get 10 year update information, the question should be asked "How do we do this in half the time, as we don't have 10 years".

FLYBE/SIA

Interesting to receive today a Flybe mailshot advertising one stop to the world.
Fly FLYBE MAN to Paris CDG or Dusseldorf to connect with Singapore Airlines to the world.
Isn't this rather a conflict to the concept of hubbing at MAN to the world ?

Flybe simply want to fill their aircraft. Whether that's SQ connections at MAN, DUS or CDG is neither here nor there. Routes to the likes of DUS or CDG from EDI or GLA will not be filled with MAN connecting traffic.

MAN does not have daily SQ flights in both directions, all of which are in the morning. BE would want to give their customers choice. Unless or until MAN gains multiple daily flights from SQ they will spread their net accordingly.

TrentDayne that's provocative.
BA are not going to be flying B777s out of MAN, you just made that up.
AA have a decent hard product on the A332 to PHL and ORD with the B787 should be fixable once it beds into reliability. AA need to rediscover their TLC at MAN. IMHO United could focus on EWR on the B777/B763 rather than the B757 and Delta can hand MAN to VS and revenue share, swapping DL metal with VS as seasonality requires it. Everyone calm. BA won't be dumping LHR as it remains a core domestic connection for a whole load more US destinations to boot!

I think in midst of the hysteria surrounding the 2 789s spending Thanksgiving at MAN the 777 rumour was advanced as a theory, and looks to have spread (without any basis that I can see).

The 777 rumour has been around for some time, and the 787 stay seems to have been a catalyst for it emerging.

As far as I know there is no solid foundation. However, there are some indisputable facts that provide underlying rationale for the rumour.

Chief among them is that whilst the aviation market at MAN is booming, the principle looser out of this is the BA brand (IAGs position is up for debate) with the collapsing shuttle traffic. Combating this by making use of a number of essentially paid off assets seems to be a fairly sensible strategy, which may also keep VS in check and make it harder for them to realise their ambitions at MAN.

Conjecture at this point, but there is reason to beleive something is afoot.

It's not dropped that drastically.

and ORD with the B787 should be fixable once it beds into reliability.

According to Airlineroute and GDS the AA 787 is not coming back next summer, ORD stays on 767. At the moment its on 757 until the usual seasonal break early in the New Year. After this year's shambles I'm pleasantly surprised ORD is coming back at all.

I agree UA should focus on EWR, with a wide body at least in the summer months, if they want to be taken as a serious player and considering the competition they now have into the New York area from VS/DL, TCX, AA and (apparently soon) Norwegian.

Ref the LHR route I don't think it's collapsed either, but it has certainly been in decline. Also we don't know if LHR connecting traffic has declined to the same extent as the total, it could simply be a case of more of the point to point MAN/LON traffic shifting to Virgin trains thanks to APD, more intrusive airport security checks etc.

Lets face BA don`t want Manchester only the long haul pax that use it, they are quite happy to shuttle them to Heathrow but they are loosing the battle because other operators are eating into their pax and now the public have realised they don`t have to go to London to get anywhere
including South America as they can go via Madrid, Barcelona or Lisbon ( Air Portugal; going back to 2 daily) in the summer or long haul to Asia/ME and the only area that is difficult is Africa
but even that via DXB is easyish

I would say Africa is actually very well connected. BA offer minimal destinations from LHR. Easier to fly from MAN and take advantage of AF, SN and KL. Even TK is less of a detour than DXB and fly to more points on the African continent

I don't have the numbers to hand - and whether collapsing is the right word or not - BA sticks out in a booming market as being in consistent decline from MAN for a number of years.

Whether that is balanced by EI, I have no idea.
