Still likely to see them, but I believe they have to wait until 31st Jan to formalise the DOT application.
The point on the dithering was that Norwegian waited to secure the DOT licence on the Irish AOC, when in reality, nothing stopped them running flights on their current licence. I know they were also waiting to get the MAX, but, that's the whole point. While baited breath has been used to wait for Norwegian to get their act together, TCX has just 'got on with it' and now has this great destination portfolio.
It's now to the point that Norwegian couldn't really offer anything new from Manchester. West coast is covered, east coast is covered, Carribean is covered. Only large gaps now is Far East, such as Bangkok, but, given D8 is using the B737 from MAN, couldn't offer that anyway.

you can confirm Norwegian had all the necessary regulatory approvals to start direct MAN-US services on any of their current licenses, all the t's were crossed but they just dithered instead? I suspect there was more to it than that.

Vickers,
Obviously I cannot confirm, but one must wonder why they could happily run services to the US from Gatwick, but couldn't from the UK regions without their Irish AOC (I'm not aware of any airline currently serving UK-USA that is allowed to fly said routes from one UK airport but not another since Bermuda II was scrapped?)They did make reference to this back when the plans to fly TATL with the max were in their infancy.

TCX are a great airline and its admirable they've not held back with launching the expansion plans giving MAN pax access to so many direct destinations previously only accessible via HUBS!!
Disappointing for me (I know many will disagree) the speculation that BA (Cityflyer) would announce some seasonal weekend leisure routes ex MAN thus far hasn't materialised!!

The BA Cityflyer announcement is still due. Was always due around end of Jan, possibly early Feb.
Doesn't start till May 24th so still lots of lead in time. Uses LCY crews so no need for a mass recruitment drive.

Well, today marks the last visit to MAN of a SQ 77W for probably quite a while, as the A359 takes over the SIN-MAN-IAH route from Tuesday.
Let's hope the change to newer and more fuel efficient equipment is well received, and leads to the eventual restoration of daily flights.

The Cape Town flights have made it to RoutesOnline.
Now amended to be a bi-weekly operation, clearly the sat flight showing was an error.
Bi weekly not great, but better than no flight at all.

LAX_LHR is right. Folks need to appreciate what they have got in TCX, as opposed to lusting after NAX who could easily jump in and upset the apple cart.
TCX have a very solid product now (nicer than BA/AA for example) and very reasonable prices. We should celebrate their success and support them as much as possible.
In other news I presume the switch to A32X for Swiss means no more CS100?

4 Sectors flown and she was quite lightly loaded in Business class but I have flown on other routes with other carriers where loads were similar when the route had just launched . Saigon /DXB springs to mind with only 5 in Business and 100 down the back on a 777! I think the route needs to be marketed more.

Yes, although with SQ I suspect their focus is via corporate channels rather than visible billboard type material. Hopefully an increase to a daily flight will make a material difference to this.
Best wishes.

I have to agree with you totally about none working lifts and escalator's. Came of EK recently worked the normal 1/4 mile then up the stairs passed none working escerlator which I think I have never seen working since the move to T1 from T2 but I stand to be corrected. As for the connections to the station, I actually was involved with the construction of the first one back in the early 1990,s and there were a number of issues with it then, due to unforeseen heat and expansion for both the glass and M&E - how surprising in for want of a better word a glass tube !

AA MAN-JFK going summer seasonal. This was announced a couple of months ago about the same time as the BHX-JFK cancellation was announced.

AA to JFK
It means a shorter season of ops. than previously though if it's not bookable after October. It will be interesting to see what comes back in summer 2018 from AA/BA to ORD & JFK. Both routes, only one of them or neither. Is PHL continuing next winter?

MANFOD
Both PHL and ORD are still bookable for the first half of next winter. Too early to see what's planned for the second half. If AA follow the same plan as this winter then ORD will take its usual break from January to March, and PHL will reduce to 6x.
Plenty of time for plans to change though !

The times they are a changin'
Funny how things change. AA's MAN-ORD was once trumpeted as one of their most profitable, now it's seasonal and on old metal. JFK looks to be in retreat in the face of the Thomas Cook and VS/DL advance. Leaving PHL as the standard bearer, on relatively large modern metal, and year-round daily (just about). This is a route that was thought to be dying with Astra-Zeneca in the Northwest yet it's keeping the stars and stripes flying at MAN.
