All very odd.

BA managed to park up dozens of planes over by the maintenance area few years back when it was weather closed.

Yet it cant find room for 2 B789s for 2 days !!

When I went past Heathrow today, the maintenance area was full of aircraft, plus they had 6 Lufthansa aircraft parked up due to their current pilot strike.

Loganair

All sounds on the positive side from LG with a boost in frequencies to GLA and INV. Really important that they get this right and continue to build the hubbing opportunities at MAN onto other domestic/short-haul and particularly long-haul. It's not yet clear how this will work post-Flybe tie up.

Still not clear on MAN-GLA. Did flybe give the route authority to Loganair gratis? I thought it was a flybe route operated by leased Loganair equipment that would presumably revert to flybe?

I think that's what it is at the moment, Skipness, but the Loganair press release is speaking as though the route becomes a Loganair service. There's a good deal we don't know yet. My concern is mainly around maintaining the successful hub operation at MAN.

Good point roverman. I don't suppose we've any hard facts but my impression is that there is now more than just a trickle of pax transferring onto TCX and some of the legacy carriers.

As you seem to be well-versed in MAN activities based on some previous posts, is there any chance you, or any other reader, could persuade the appropriate person to post October traffic stats on the MAN website. As I recall, you were the first to suggest we had hit 25m and it has since been officially reported, so the actual figures for October must be known.

Thanks Jamie2k9, but can I ask where you found that information. It's still not available in the usual page on the web site and I don't recall any details for October as such reported in the 25m pax articles. All I can recall was a year on year increase mentioned of I think 9.3%.

Edit: Just found it on the MAG web site. Why didn't I think of looking there! A good increase in freight too.

Sorry, the link doesn't seem to have picked up.

Not an issue with space this am, even with 2 BA 789s parked up.

Just taken 7 diversions from LPL.

They all arrived after our mass departure so plenty of space, before 08.00 and after 20.00 might
well have been different and also we have a few extra stands where car park used to be

The following has been posted on Facebook (I know not the most reliable source) anyone know if there is any truth in it.

"BA are already setting up a short haul base at MAN to start May 2017 through their Cityflyer franchise. AA are reducing their service due to problems replacing their long haul fleet having to reduce their spending (They have already pushed back their A350 order by two years). AA are already pulling out of BHX. BA know that the JFK & ORD are important and will take over from AA in 2018 once the B777's have been reconfigured they are also adding the possibility of a LAX route as well to show their commitment"

The first bit is definately true.

Cityflyer base Thu-Sun from 18th May serving Ibiza 3 weekly, 2 weekly Palma and Nice, 1 weekly Malaga, Alicante and London City (the LCY is the positioner back to base).

Will be E190 and run until 24th Sept.

Thanks LAX_LHR for the update regarding BA Cityflyer. Be good to see them based here part week rather than the occasional school holiday charters

Are these flights bookable yet?

Any more news on Norwegians moved to MAN?
Any signs of the transatlantic schedules on the 737?

Yes Norwegian will have 3 new routes next summer and the NYC. B737 max will rotate off some extra Oslo flights.

LAX_LHR thanks very much for the update!

The NYC being done off an Oslo rotation makes sense.

What other routes will there be?

Appreciate all the info.

I was told no new routes Summer 17, only frequency increases, but that could just relate to LGW.

(Should clarify that as Long Haul routes)
