and ORD with the B787 should be fixable once it beds into reliability.
According to Airlineroute and GDS the AA 787 is not coming back next summer, ORD stays on 767. At the moment its on 757 until the usual seasonal break early in the New Year. After this year's shambles I'm pleasantly surprised ORD is coming back at all.
I agree UA should focus on EWR, with a wide body at least in the summer months, if they want to be taken as a serious player and considering the competition they now have into the New York area from VS/DL, TCX, AA and (apparently soon) Norwegian.
Ref the LHR route I don't think it's collapsed either, but it has certainly been in decline. Also we don't know if LHR connecting traffic has declined to the same extent as the total, it could simply be a case of more of the point to point MAN/LON traffic shifting to Virgin trains thanks to APD, more intrusive airport security checks etc.
