If I need to connect to anywhere in the world from MAN, for me AMS, MUC,ZRH or DXB suit me fine.
The last attempt to connect at LHR (T5-T2) was abysmal- never ever again.
To connect T5-T5 was OK ish but the actual service product, well let's say I wouldn't do that again either.
To be honest, unless you are a premium card holder with BA I'm unsure what the advantages are of going anywhere via LHR.
FRA is also a bit ropey to say the least from non Schengen to longhaul.

Do those 2014/2015 figures include Little Red ? If they do then BA's LHR figures might actually be relatively stable

Yes they do but then when Virgin finished you had no other choice than BA or train

BA are very strong to the US, and MAN has a comparably strong offering direct to the US. The YoY shuttle figures for BA are the ones you need with VS removed. Part of the issue is BA DO want long haul passengers from MAN, in the same way KL, LH, SN, LX and TP do. They just have an appaling track record of making enough money in doing so, they don't get non LHR at all well, never did!

Certain people, with good reason are anti BA because they left the MAN point to point market as they were rubbish at it. However it's unlikely BA would pull MAN-LHR as their whole LHR model needs short haul feed.

Btw if you connect LHR T5 to T2, is that even a protected connection Oneworld to Star?

I`m sure MAN to LHR used to be in top 5 routes certainly is dropping well
down list now I cant` find my notes for what it was 10 and 20 years ago

Ian
October 2005 was 104,689 MAN/LHR and that in itself was 9.569pc down from October 2004 when it was 115,767.

I must be sad to know these statistics!

Hainan to Beijing

Whilst on the subject of declining MAN - LHR traffic the below might explain why so many are side stepping LHR

I am normally a big user of Business EK for travel east but the new Hainan service was tried for a weeks business in Beijing. (Business class)

The flight appeared full in the back and up front there were only a couple of seats left, passengers I would say 95% Chinese of all ages. Judging by the amount of freight coming off Id also say that was doing well.

I was a bit sceptical of the 5 star airline rating but I can confirm in my opinion it deserves the ranking. Everything about the flight was superb, the IFE was simple to operate with high quality Bose headsets (unfortunately had to give them back !) Seating and privacy layout very good, not as Blingy as EK though. Nice Chinese jimjams (thats one xmas present found !!) and other high quality freebies.

The food was absolutely superb and on par with top notch restaurant food (Hatherways restaurant have something to do with it)

The only down side to the journey was having to be bussed from remote and joining the throng to get through Terminal 2 Chinese immigration and customs which appeared to be on minimum manning.

So all in all very good, I will report back on the return flight to MAN later in the week.

That's pretty interesting. The aircraft sits around at MAN for several hours doesn't it?

Does that mean extra flights because why would they go to Dublin with an aircraft that is already
nearly full unless they are going daily

Cathay Pacific confirmed at 5 weekly next summer, from 1st June

Gatwick seems to have steamed past MAN with a daily service however, so, slightly disappointing.

4x 77W = 1340 seats
5x 359 = 1400 seats

Although that's only 3% increase in seats overall, the breakdown is interesting.

Business + 30 seats (19%)
P/E + 12 seats (9%)
Econ. -2 seats

From the CAA stats, pax numbers have dropped slightly in the 9 months to 30 Sep. compared to the same period last year.

LF I reckon was still high at 87.0% compared to 88.6% last year. While the LF was better in Jan. & March this year, there was apparently a drop of about 5% in May and Aug. However, I don't claim the LFs are completely accurate if I've not picked up all cancellations. For example, I believe the Tues. flight was cancelled for a short period - was this Oct. or earlier?

Rumours abound about a 3 weekly Kuwait service from September. Cant find anything to substantiate the info and KU seem very happy with their SNN stopovers.

Think it was a 'wishlist' that morphed into something more.

The rumours about KU are true. They first mentioned MAN about five years ago but it has now been reported publicly in recent weeks in Kuwait as being on their list of new destinations. Also watch out for GF as they are said to be looking at LGW and MAN.

I'd say extremely disappointing especially as a daily slot was applied for a while back, yet more flights down south! 42-5 slightly unbalanced.

Wholeheartedly agree. Increased frequency bio predominately flat capacity. Odd, and probably warrants an explanation.

Easyjet

Dubrovnik 2 weekly (22 July)
Granada 2 weekly (21 July)
Preveza 2 weekly (21 May)

With July starts, assume extra aircraft not arriving until then?
