Caen is suspended between the 6th January and 17th Feburary.

I thought FMO was being dropped completely, and therefore not returning for S16?

Venice:

Looking at the current schedule for March 2016, there are 33x weekly rotations between VCE and LGW, LTN and SEN. EZY say they want to increase connections to 6x daily. This means there are currently 9 rotations per week up for grabs, with 1 on Mon, 3 on both Tues and Wed, and the remaining 2 on Saturday. With LGW already at at least 3 daily (sometimes 4x daily), SEN or LTN could easily pick up any additional flights.

Stobart will use an ATR42 for the Southend routes from November, according to the bookingsystem.

So it is, I think we can assume the aircraft in question will be EI-EHH then.

I have always assumed that aircraft departing Southend would be at an advantage compared with other London airports when heading south as they would take a more direct track but today I randomly came across today's Faro flight where the aircraft headed North. Is this the normal route for Southend departures to avoid Heathrow inbounds?

Yes it is. The FAO route has to eventually fly to the Southwest rather than the South, and joins the airway system around Compton (West of LHR). To be honest, it only fly's North as far as Chelmsford, a couple of minutes flying time before turning West.

The PMI/ALC take a southerly route.....

Half yearly results in

6 month results to 31 August 2015 are in. Highlights are:

Profit down 71% compared to same period last year.
Pax numbers 20% down compared to same period last year.
Revenue down slightly on same period last year.

Airport properties still valued at £160m. Stated EBITDA profit of £366,000 for the 6 months translates into a 219 year payback on investment....

Seems odd for the directors report to be calling the Aviation division "high growth" when everything currently is "high reduction".

That's not good but not surprising but a profit is a profit. The airports school report reads must try harder.

A profit is sometimes a loss...

On closer reading it seems £600k of business development costs at SEN have been omitted from the Aviation Division P&L and recharged to the group as a whole (because they are not "underlying costs" whatever that means). To you and me that means Aviation suffered a loss of more than £200k for the period.

Amend that school report to read, "After 4 years here Stobart has failed to impress..."

To be fair the school report should read "After a very promising start Stobart seemed to take their eye off the ball and coasted with inevitable results, seemingly unaware of the impact of events elsewhere at Stansted, London City and Gatwick. They fell into bad company with flyBE and lost their prize Dublin route with its US connections. Must try harder if they are to recover the situation before the final examinations....."

Just substitute "discarded their prize Dublin route ...." for your "lost their prize Dublin route" and I would agree with your summary.

Stobart are certainly placing a great deal of faith in the abilities of their new CEO Glyn Jones and COO Jon Horne to attract additional airlines to SEN. They will either succeed or their tenures are likely to be short lived I suspect. I wish them well.

who said the dublin route was a prized route? What is this obsession with Dublin.

Maybe it didn't work …

And before everyone screams about 60,000 passengers a year, 60,000 passengers paying £20 a successful route does not make ...

I doubt that you have access to any information in support of your supposition, while the limited information that I have suggests otherwise.

Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think any airline would drop a route that made a profit

If it does start just make sure you pay by credit card and the fare is more than a £100 because the route won't last long.

One hour away according to Google maps but at least there will be no traffic jams because hardly anyone lives there which is the problem.

No wonder they need the regional air connectivity fund.
