Think its a great figure ex LTN, suspect inbound was higher.
As far as I know it was ~40.

Rumor has it that Easy Jet are looking to move their headquarters to Gatwick.
Seems they are committed to a Luton HQ

"As easyJet’s revenue continue to soar and their resources are stretched to the limit, the airline has once again called on Are* S* to redesign and extend their Hangar 89 Luton base allowing the airline to spread their wings even further"

easyJet?s Luton base extension supports airline?s rapid growth - Area Sq

Wasn't there a Waterford service in the 1990s?

Yes, WAT has had a number of previous operators. Ryanair served the route for a while before switching it to STN. Suckling I think also served the route during the 90's

Ryanair 1988-1992
Suckling 1994-2000
Euro Celtic 2001-2003 ( Photo added on the Luton History and Nostalgia thread)
Aer Arann 2003-2011
Aer Lingus Regional 2012.

Think that covers it. Also Ryanair didn't switch it to Stansted they ended the route. It was taken over my Manx who operated it to Stansted.

Then some doughnut who operates a large fleet of lorries decided to move it to Southend - most of us said it wouldn´t work - and it didn´t. Back in its rightful home.

Desperation seems to be coming to the fore with La Compagnie. Many days in May, fares start now at a little over £150ow. Advertising seems virtually non-existent. Not good.

They had a good piece on BBC TV London News yesterday but Simon Calder was not too enthralled.

No advertising....you would think it would be plastered everywhere. I only knew it started because of Pprune - had actually thought it had been canned ages ago as it was so quiet

Should also add is it just my IPhone or is their mobile app a little poor? The booking engine is temperamental and has been going off screen. Business travellers like ease and technology - they need to sort that out if they are to attract the high end spenders. £644 each way for October but I guess they want to see cash now hence lower fares on other dates

I have been very surprised by the lack of advertising activity by La Compagnie. How on earth do they expect to sell their seats if no one knows the service exists?

The charters are to do with the European Rugby final at Twickers between Clermont Auvergne and Toulon some flights also into Gatwick. Unfortunately both teams supporters are not good at away travelling and also only two weeks between the semi-final and final but beggers can´t be choosers I suppose.

Are there any La Compagnie fares left at £150 one way? That's an absolute bargain! I did try looking on the site, but I couldn't see any and it's too clunky for my liking.

I managed to bag a return in May for 2 adults for just under £700!! inc taxes!! We were going to NYC anyway and was going to go with BA, but at that price it seemed rude not to at least try this out. At least I will now miss the wretched M25 traffic.

I must agree though, the website is extremely poor and it took me several attempts to load most pages. Very frustrating!

I see La Compagnie are still only operating one aircraft....It seems the CDG-EWR flights have been chopped to allow the LTN flights to operate (although there was no LTN flight on Sunday despite it being mentioned on the website schedule)

Poor website, no marketing, give away prices...... it really doesn't sound good for La Compagnie and not a good way to run a business

I also have my concerns for La Compagnie, and this new route... I so so want it to work!

There are seats for nearly every day selling at £288 each way, including July and August... The price of an economy ticket on the mainstream carriers on Expedia in the summer months is in-excess of £750 return for London to New York!

Can a 70-80 seater aircraft really make money on a route like this selling tickets at this price?

Also the flight timings are awful.

Most flights depart the UK and Europe mid-morning and arrive into NYC early to mid afternoon. While the flight from Luton departs 5.45 and arrives at 9pm, and the return is also a lot later with a 10.20pm departure and arriving back at Luton 10.20am.

I can only assume with Newark being a very busy airport, this is a time they are quite quiet and the airline has secured some cheap slots and also a good price for the six hours they are parked up at Luton.

It's extremely aggravating and sad, They have had so much time.. have good investors and they seem to be blowing it all in the first week. If this flops as hard as it looks like it is going to we wont have this connection to NY again. What a shame, What a mess.
