Kind of exciting isnt it.
Any idea if the plane arrives today/early for a bit of prep.
Might have to take 10 mins from work and go watch its maiden flight at the crashgate.
Just noticed departure is 17:45 wont need to take time out!

See the Police at the airport are going to be given drones.
London airport police to use surveillance drones - BBC News
I didn't think that flying a drone near an airport was a good idea. Would the police need permission from ATC to launch it?

EZY 20th anniversary
I stand corrected on the date. I hadn't realised it was as late as November but I well remember those early schedules to GLA & EDI. Interesting that even today, there are no more than 3 flights a day to either destination and sometimes less
Doesn't look like F-HCIE will operate todays flight! Instead its due to be F-HTAG (which normally operates CDG-EWR daily) so an expensive sub-charter or cancellation sounds like its on the cards!

In answer to your question, if the drone mass is 7KG or less (excluding fuel-which if electric powered a battery is not considered as fuel) no ATC permission is required. Ref ANO Article 166.

The drones seem a pointless waste of time and money. What are they going to do, Hover them over the families and photographers sitting around the fence watching planes take off? Crash them into the local red kite population? Who knows.
Has HTAG arrived?

I hope it lasts, it stands a good chance. Look at the who's who on the airline's website. The CEO sold his first venture (L'Avion) when he was 31 for a lot of euros, the rest of the executive/management team are really experienced good people. Oh & I'll be at the pointy end.

The check-in was midpoint at desks 29-30 which wasn't displayed on the departure boards Hard to judge numbers as the check-in was open over 3 hours before departure. No queues but plenty of people were tuning up for the flight.
As a side note the airport was heaving again. There was a constant stream of National Express coaches departing totally full with Greenline also doing a roaring trade. The rail link also seemed to be packed out. It felt like it was August rather than April.
