Luton really need to sort out their punctuality, being through the airport 3 times recently and departures delayed by up to 40 minutes all times, this evening for the most part of 90 minutes all flights departed with a minimum of 27 minutes delay and by the looks of it they were not because of inbound aircraft delays....

LTNman - I agree that there is no formal responsibility on LLAOL's part. However, if various other companies operating at Luton are not up to scratch, it really does not look good for LLAOL and LTN's hopes of boosting passenger numbers in the long term.
If things are going significantly wrong with day-to-day operations, then it's up to not just airlines but also the company managing the airport to find a way (in consultation with the other companies involved) to get the problems resolved

London Luton Airport Operations Limited (LLAOL) manage the airport on behalf of AENA and are responsible for security and infrastructure. They are not responsible for aircraft handling, baggage, ATC delays or fueling plus all the other things that can delay a flight. Interesting to know why you think the airport is to blame.
Never said the airport was to blame but I am not used to such poor traveling experience which the UK as a whole offers to passengers compared to many airports accrues Europe

I used to be a committee member on the airports passenger services sub committee, big issues then were baggage reclaim times, passport control and aircraft de-icing and the lack of de-icing equipment. The airport management were fully aware and somewhat frustrated that services that they had no control over gave the airport a negative view in passengers eyes but apart from giving the airlines data the airport had collected and having a moan to government about staffing levels at immigration there wasn't a great deal they could do.
What the airport does have full control over is being dealt with over the next two years with a larger terminal, more security gates, more baggage belts, more taxiways and a new pier.

Is there any idea how long they will be using an A340 out of Luton? I can't today but could pop out of work to watch it land on arrival tomorrow. Would be a sight seeing that splash down in the rain.

New Website
Looks like a new website is in the pipeline...
London Luton Airport - The UK's 5th largest airport
If you click on any news articles on the exisiting website it takes you through to the above link.
Looks a lot more fresher, and less cluttered. They might be slowing releasing the new website in phases or doing some beta-testing, before it all goes live.

I didn’t think that Luton would ever see anything bigger on a scheduled service than EL-AL’s Boeing 777. Now Luton has seen its first A340 scheduled service to New York. You couldn’t make it up!!!

The UK's 5th busiest airport
With 10,868,912pax having been handled during the rolling 12 months, Luton is on target to handle its projected 11.4 million passengers this year til end of December 31st-though I think 11.5mp is more realistic.
In relation to the A340 that climbed out at 18.45 on Sunday evening, let's not forget that Ryanair was once left with using a B747-200 to operate a scheduled service. Equaly do not forget the arrival at Luton of a Boeing 747 of Virgin who had missed it's night landing slot at LHR during the 90's!
From May to December expect passenger levels to increase on average 80,000pax each consecutive month!

So if you add LTN, FAB, STN, LCY, NHT, LCY, BQH is London head and shoulders above any other European city in VVIP?
