G-OOAN

With 103,000+ hours on the clock, this aircraft has served Thomson (First Choice and Leisure International) well.

G-OOAN has been withdrawn but has not left the fleet yet. G-OOBR has also been withdrawn as well.

I have heard that there are some more 757's to go at the end of the year. I assume it is the two which have not been repained.

757

"BR" operated Sofia - BHX Saturday evening and night-stopped. Then flew BHX - Shannon Sunday.

The other two due to go "BI & "BJ" are operating or sitting at BHX at present as well.

Is the final 757 allocation for summer 2013 known for each base?

Pete

They I think are now being backups before leaving the fleet.

The last A321 is due to go shortly as well.

Terrible leg room on those FCA a321's, apart from the first 4 rows. Never flown on a thomson 757

In the news today about the FAA approving of Boeing's 787 battery redesign. Obviously there is still testing to go on in order to approve it for passenger ops.

If it does get all approved and TOM get the first 787 before May would TOM reverse their decision to delay the 787 service till July since they have asked for the 767 leases to be extended and refunded the "787 excess charge" to passengers?

Going by this FAA Press Release I think that May is a little optimistic. I've also heard it suggested that this testing could take a couple of months to complete

When they 'finally' arrive TOM will not be putting them straight into service due crew training requirements & will then run them for a couple of weeks replacing 757 on short haul to build pilot hours before launching long haul (as per their original plan) until the fix gets final approval from FAA & bearing in mind 50 a/c grounded will get priority and TUIA is No 6 on the delivery line with B & C not far behind it could be a while before they get a confirmed delivery date as once the fix is in place these a/c although complete require their pre delivery flight testing. Until such time they get a date they will not alter any plans in place to cover the 2 a/c planned to operate l/h this summer.

And any modifications that the 'fix' may require.

Cannot help thinking Thomson went way overboard promoting the 787 introduction, those leaflet/pamphlets they stuck in all thr brochures and those ex Lunn Poly Tui travel agents are littered with those 787 pamphlets. just when exactly will Thomson be introducing the 787 to long haul flights?

When Boeing, the FAA, CAA and Thomson say so. Whilst testing is going on then no one will put an exact date on the operation.

well its funny, I kind of knew when Thomson started selling 787 specific flights, that those departures would not go ahead and would indeed fall back on 767.

Grrr

I booked nearly a tear, sorry, year ago!

I am looking forward to frying, sorry, flying on a Dreamliner in July and not a vintage 767. I did that with BA two summer ago! IFE = TV monitors nailed into the cabin roof!

Obviously no one knows yet but the Boeing Head of Engineerig said in the past couple of days that the B787 could 'be back in service in a matter of weeks'.

Optomistic .... time will tell.
