For me speaking personally, I'd rather the airline I booked with got me to my destination irregardless of the aircraft. I book holidays on destination not the aircraft type! I'm sure most non-ppruners are the same

As horrendous as some of Joe Public can be I'm sure they'd rather be slightly miffed in an older aircraft than to all intents and purpose put themselves in danger flying on a quick fixed 787 (at this point in time at least)

Aircraft subs are just nature of the world. I've flown the LCY-JFK route 8 times and 5 of those I've been subbed onto a 777 because of aircraft problems.

Sure once they've had their first on-board drink, watched a movie or hit the beach/pool that Thomson's customers will forget all about the 787.

Sorry, badly worded. I meant the airbus has broken down and I've been put on the 777 18.55 from JFK to LHR instead which is a world of difference to the LCY flight

If the 787 arrive late, do TOM keep their 763 at Boeing expense, and are they ETOPS so they would cut down flight times to US/Mexico anyhow?

757/summer 2013

oldbalboy

Thank you for the information

Summer 2013

Irrespective of the 787 problems has the 2013 short-haul aircraft allocation been finailised?

There were rumours that East Mids was to lose the 757 with three 738's based and BHX to lose one of its four 757's with two 738's instead.

This would be quite a capacity reduction for BHX from 4 x 235 seats and 1 x 189 to 3 x 221 and 2 x 189.

I believe their are a couple of extra rotations and Marrakech is added as a new route.

What will happen to the two 757s if that happens?

I take it Bournemouth will have the standard 738 for the summer? How many 738s are painted in the new colours?

There are currently 4. Source: Thomson Airways.

We do have a Thomson Livery Thread for all of that too:

Does anyone know the base layouts for this Summer? Participially BRS, CWL and EXT... assuming it is 2 x757, 1 x738 and 1 x 757, 1 738 respectively?

Most probably the same as it has been for numerous summers. With the exception of EXT as the 320 was changed to 738 a season or two ago.

With the 757s going to 221 seats, does this mean that all passengers will have more leg room or just a few at the front?
I love going on the 757, especially the take-offs. But when I last went on one I had cramp before it had moved and I'm not that large!
When the 757s are painted at Norwich is there any service work done on them?

Its the first ten rows, i think. Certainly not any past L/R2 apart from the exits rows.

Quite a lot of room actually, I was surprised.

Is the rear cabin still 28' then? That's quite a lot of seat pitch variation for one class on one aircraft!
