When are Thomson going to do something about their onboard product? Recently had the 'pleasure of a round trip LGW LPA and the decline in the quality of their on board offering was very marked.

Back in the BY days the flight was the start of the holiday, the TOM bean counters have now turned it into a trial

Time's have changed since the BY days. You have the likes of EZY and FR to thank for that. People want cheap fares, on board product is just a luxury.
Thomson did a lot of research into taking the meal offerings away and brought in the snacks menu, which whilst not popular with everyone, seems to be the way things have gone.
IFE was withdrawn as new technology means people can keep themselves occupied in different ways. Personal seatback IFE is just not cost effective on short/mid haul flights, and removing overhead IFE is a cost and weight saving.
The same reason for the Ticket Desks being taken away, people have become more self sufficient, tickets no longer exist, its all e-tickets. Passengers create their own add-ons online or in travel agents. As far as I know, online check-in will be introduced soon.
Unfortunately not all of the above will suit everyone, but its the way times have changed.
I havent seen it mentioned here, but Thomson are currently reconfiguring their 757 fleet into a 221 config. Taking out 2 rows from the front and middle cabin, increasing legroom. I'm not entirely sure how this effects the rear cabin.

Shame the Recaro seats which were on the old TOM 757s haven't been retained and fitted to the legacy FCA ones, those seats improved the interior massively compared to the bulky FCA seats.

I agree with cym, in that the standard for in-flight service is no longer the same. In fact I used to work at Luton and had dealings with the in-flight catering/product managers and I was always impressed in how every detail for in-flight branding had to be meticulous-ranging from cooked meals to duty free sales. Britannia used to be very proud of it's award winning meals. I for one do not like a cheap service and do not like an expernsive service, thus Thomson should be in the middle range, but sadly is no longer. Leaving me and I am sure- many others to seek alternative airlines. I may be old fashioned? But I know how air travel should be!

May I ask which airlines do you prefer?
The meal on my last Thomson flight was poor, but better than you get on easyjet or Ryanair. So without going on Virgin or BA, which do not fly to the Thomson destinations, who?
I now do not pay extra for food on a plane, if it is free I will eat it, but we may be better off taking our own sandwiches.
I used to love it on Air 2000 with the buck's fizz, ferraro rocher (sp) and the warm towels. But we all know it is down to price, if Air X is a quid cheaper than Air Y you know which folk will chose.

Many would say they agree however not enough actually shell out more money to pay for it. The market won't support what you ask for alas as there are too many costs attached.

The quality of food on British Airways, in economy anyway, is a lot to be desired anyway from personal experience.

I fully concur with dannyboy LHR to HEL 2.45 to 3.00 hr flt, a chicken or duck wrap with a hot drink and one soft/ alcoholic drink. At least on TOM you get a choice!!

Does anybody know how much it costs Thomson to re-paint their 757's and 767's into the Dreamliner livery?

Just returned from TFS to BRS yesterday and its safe to say Thomson have really lowered there service standards. They came out once with the drinks and snack bar yesterday on a 4hr 35 mins flight, really? Also crew were very rude with horrible attitude.
