I'm not suggesting that they don't do it, I'm saying that I'm pretty confident it won't be a regular feature on the schedule. The most direct routing from the UK involves MSA of 18,000ft. Add a wind and QNH correction, and you could be potentially looking at MSA of 23,000ft. Not much margin for an aircraft with a 25,000ft cap. Therefore they take a different routing, adding a lot of time, looking in the order of 3.5 hours from MAN/BHX. In an aircraft with a higher service ceiling, it never goes much beyond 2hr20.

Its amazing that Berlin is still not served from BHX, could this be one of their new routes?
Loads and yields were pretty high when operated by Maersk for 10yrs.

Would love to see the Berlin route happen from BHX but it was one of the routes that Flybe cut when they took over from BACON so I'm not sure they'd bring it back in a hurry. A better bet I think would be BMIBaby as a 3 or 4 day a week city-break route

I can`t see it. It would cost a fortune and does flybe need to, what would they gain? With the new bases at ABZ and NCL and Eastern said to be pulling out of SOU. flybe could just up the capacity and drop the fares until Eastern couldnt compete any longer. Much cheaper than taking over two orphaned aircraft types.
I would suspect the only realistic thing in the long term would be Eastern become a flybe franchiesee...Maybe not just yet, Eastern still seem to have something about them.

Flybe to take over Eastern? now there's an irony. It's like Musical Chairs in this business. Eastern were fed the a/c from BRAL when it was merged with Brymon to make BACX, which turned into BACON, which was flogged to Flybe.
On another thread someone expressed concern over the level of anger "in the regions," not hard to see why it it?

Friends booked 4x Southend-Jersey rtn seats with them some time ago for one of their Weds. departures.
Just received email saying they have been transferred to a flight the previous day to that booked, leaving two hours earlier, from Gatwick!
Since they live near SEN, where they can park free for the week, they are not happy.
What to do?

I think you'll find that it's another Flybe franchise - following on from the recent agreement with Loganair. Unfortunately Eastern have been finding it difficult to stay away from competition lately, which puts pressure on their "high yield" pricing strategy.

a flybe franchise
THis is amazing and scandalous!!!
If Eastern went Flybe Franchise, it would simply be to keep Flybe off their case.
Flybe are going to get a great opportunity here, these carriers sign up to franchise arrangement, Flybe get birds eye view of financials and hence have excellent knowledge when it comes to acquiring these companies if the chance arises!

If BA ever drop it I would say BE would be prime contenders for it.
Early indications look positive for the recently launched ABZ & NCL/LGW, here is hoping it stays that way.

I know for a fact that Richard Lake, the MD at Eastern, would rather close Eastern than sell to the Ryanair wannabees at Jack Walker House.
There's nothing wrong with Flypossiblys crews and service, but the conflict is with what Eastern's customers expect and the Flybe's management appalling attitude to the people who provide them with a living.
Eastern have won many major European awards, Flybe have won nothing and are unlikely ever to do so.
As for code share, isn't it Eastern who've just agreed one with KLM to operate INV - AMS?
Try as they might, Flybe will never get code share with KLM, or if it comes to it, any other major airline.

I REALLY SHOULDN'T BE HERE

Since when has anyone been in business to win awards? Simply put it will be survival of the fittest - the airlines whose models and products are best fit to the needs of the market will survive. The others will have to adapt or fold.
If the two regional models can exist side-by-side, well and good. Ultimately the consumer decides who is offering better value.

P.S. Everyone has already heard the "flymaybe" line; glib one-liners wear thin very quickly.
