SOE i totally agree with you, Flybe is just a pawn in their game. Its a vicious circle in this industry and yes BA will work its way back into the regional market.
They'll buy up and spoil all the regional success like they have in the past, work it into the ground then realise its not profitable and sell it off again.
Its will all end up with sour consenquences like it always has done (remember Manx and all the others).

I would be very surprised if BA didn't take the other 80% of the Exeter based company.
Why not take cash for BACON? Willie has a trick up his sleeve which I think me may see revealed within a year or so.
BE takes all the small operators around the UK (Loganair etc.) and they will all miraculously appear with the BA flag on them again!
Don't know whether this would be a good or a bd thing but BA would certainly be back in the regions!

I personally believe none of it. Working at BE I can safely say that this would be the last thing to go through.
I have been viewing this website for a long time now and those that are speculating such a move were the same ones doubting Flybe's existance 12 months after they acquired BAConnect and Flybe are still here in profit.
I know this is a rumour network but shouldnt there be some facts within any suggestions or speculations?
Just my opinion so please don't bite back.

Willie has enough problems of his own, buying a larger stake (investing this time not a bribe to dump an asset stripped shadow of a airline) would make the small Irishman choke on his champ!.
Not that I'm bitter
BA have never made the regional brand work, they bought the BRAL group to get their paws on LHR slots on the cheap, Mr Eddington's finest hour!!.
The market changed when the Lo-Co's got going.
I hope FlyBe remain independent, once they float BA will take their stake and leave well alone...invest it in pointless amounts of managers managing managers.
BA will have one hub in the UK, LHR.
Willie's next trick is to shut the LGW operation, make a fast buck on the slots and utilise the 777's else where. As for the 737 fleet.....once LGW is gone...no need for replacing them..thus saving more money to fill the hole in the pension fund and debt!!.

BA Gatwick may not be at the front of the queue for capital investment but there's not enough room at Heathrow for er...... the LHR operation without trying to shoehorn LGW in there as well !

This of course assumes that BA manage to avoid any more major cock-ups and all the associated bad press & lost business, and actually remain in business with the funds capable of buying anything more than a cheese sandwich. Given the bumbling evident over the last 12 months, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Now that the same company that own EXT have bought 95% of BLK, could we see the strong relationship between the company and BE at EXT wear off up north and maybe we could see BE routes from BLK?
Even a weekly BE service to JER would be a start!

I am not saying its not a possibility but there was a time when Flybe operated into BLK, albeit for a short period, and my understanding is that its a case of 'never again' (not sure why though)

Yes they did. BA flew a Dash 8 and then an ER4 the following year. Then when BACON were sold off VLM took over last summer. This year it won't run because there isn't the passenger base - probably because they wanted £264 for a return flight only 3 months before departure!

But maybe you are too young to remember Blackpool based Spacegrand whose parent company, Walker Steel, bought an outfit called Jersey European Airways, and the rest, as they say, is history.....

Ah yes, I remember those Jersey sheds ( short 360s) being lovingly maintained at BLK..........and of course FLYBEs callsign still remains "Jersey" to this day. Maybe they want to go "home"?

Tristar 500:
The BLK route did indeed operate after BACX got rid of the ATPs, both on the Dash 8s and the ER4s.
I've been at JER 5 years this summer and never dispatched an ATP, but plenty of BACX/BACON BLKs!

SAS DH4s to Flybe?
Reported in a reliable enthusiasts' magazine (Aviation Letter) that aside from 9 aircraft committed to two other carriers, SAS's Dash 8 fleet will be sold to Flybe.
Any confirmation? (Most of the fleet is still in EXT still, I believe.)

Hmm it wouldn't surprise me. Another source indicated this only recently, and I suppose it is good in a way as it may mean more new routes. At least Flybe's fine Engineers will be able to keep the undercarriage safe!

Flybe Blackpool
There has been some mention of previous Flybe services to Blackpool, albeit in the guise of JEA etc.
There used to be a frequent Blackpool/IOM/Belfast City with 360s!
I also remember in the late 80s flying Manx Airlines Dublin/IOM/Blackpool on 146s (G-OJET) and this aircraft on Saturdays used to go on to Jersey.
So the aircraft used to do on a Saturday IOM/LHR/IOM/DUB/IOM/BLK/JER/BLK/IOM/DUB/IOM !

Not leased to us apparently! They are leasing Flybe's Dash 8's and lending Flybe, for free(!), 4 of theirs. So in effect Flybe get 4 Dash 8's free for a year.
