i was wondering how long it would be before you re-regestered with a new name . I have never said that European routes will not appear from BHD, i believe that they some day they will, but i have said that EZY will not be doing anything for the foreseeable future.. As i have said a couple of times now BE is BHDs best chance of major expansion... they are the perfect airline for the airport
Oh if you are worried about my wisdom being on an internet thread, next time your near BHD and im working ill throw a bone at you to fetch

BHD
So Ryanair have come and gone. They are not the first to try something for a while then move on when it does not pan out - Air Berlin from Stansted to various UK destinations including BHD, EI trying Stansted and London City for a while, SN Brussels from BFS and, way back, Air France to Paris and KLM to Amsterdam both from BFS.
So FR is not the first and I am sure it won't be the last.
As regards the future of BHD without FR, the prophets of doom said BFS was finished when BA and BMI pulled out (BA had Man, Birm, Glas, Edin and LHR at one time from BFS) and they were proved wrong. The same will be the case now with BHD

Manx2 are consolidating their Belfast ops and from the start of the winter timetable will operate all flights to/from BHD - nothing bookable to/from BFS after the end of October.

id heard they were talking of closing the BFS base, i wonder if this means the Galway route could go from BHD? I know some of the crew prefer flying to BHD as BFS give a lot of hassle with temp passes etc

seems like a sensible option for Manx2 during winter, however the IOM route from BFS was quite popular during summer... as for the GWY or ORK flight, dont have a clue
as for temp passes, all Manx2 staff have to park at checkpoint one (CP4).. used to be that they could park down in the main carpark, but for whatever reason this changed.. security at BFS is a bit iffy with temp passes, they have even refused to issue them to staff who are waiting for Access NI to get back with their renewal details, even if they have worked there for 10+ years

i dont really think the market is big enough (apart from when it comes to the TT race, and similar events) to fill enough seats on an A319 for it to be a profit from N.Ireland

Manx2 have confirmed they are leaving BFS. Sensible to consolidate their operation at one airport in my opinion. Two aircraft to be based at BHD, to operate up to 5 flights a day to the IOM, 2 flights a day to Cork and 3 flights a week to Galway.

Easyjet would be mad to attempt Belfast-IOM (though if they do i'll eat my hat, and book onto the 1st flight :P ), as history shows that airlines not much larger than Manx2 have all gone down the drain, or pulled out- Euromanx, BNWA, Manx Airlines, Loganair etc etc. The IOM is a niche market that only Manx2 can really do profitably..well that and (for Newtownards flyers) the 'Isle of Man Airways' Cherokee- Foxtrot Uniform lol.
Good to hear that Manx2 are to base 2 aircraft here, im sure the locals cant complain about the noise from a Let

Well I'm glad to see FlyBE taking over the FR routes to EMA although I will end up having to pay for it I'd rather go via the City, maybe caox them into a 3rd daily flight. O'Leary thrown toys out pram and now looses a good paseenger market even if they were just domestic's.

BHD-EMA
I'm not sure how the DSA route is performing, but it's possible Flybe may consider switching this lunchtime flight to EMA in order to maximise the potential of this route? I suppose it depends on the success of the initial schedule and Flybe's thoughts on any future route development at EMA.

bhd-ema
Would be nice to see a lunch time 3rd service route bhd-iom-ema and return, plus may we see a ema-ext to help east midlanders get to torbay faster than the option of car/coach/train for summer 2011

Good decision by Manx2. This type of operation is much better suited to BHD. The ORK flight has the potential if operated properly to return to the significant numbers enjoyed by AA when they first started. Well done.
Likewise, cant see Easy doing the IOM, ever.

Great to see Manx2 take over the Cork route and make BHD their base.
Anyword on the ground as to how talks are progressing to fill the last 2 remaining routes being vacated by Ryanair ?
London Stansted is the biggy - surely easyjey must be giving it a good look, maybe Air Berlin too ?
Glasgow Prestwick - less obvious who might come in on this route.

Air Berlin
I thought the AB service was great when it was here a number of years ago. The connection to Germany through Stansted would be a good thing to return!
Easyjet Stansted? No, I don't think so just yet. It will remain at BFS

Air Berlin pulled all their UK domestics when they quit BHD, so doubt that they would recommence flights.
London links from BHD have pretty much been to three London airports for years, LHR, LGW and STN, with only the recent addition of LTN. With STN now gone, it's back to three airports, so potentially nobody will replace the STN. Easyjet may well bulk capacity on the LTN flights and maybe add an extra STN from BFS commencing Summer timetable, but who knows. After EZY coming to BHD, anything's possible!!
Excellent news regarding Manx2 and having a considerable operation now at BHD.
