Thanks for the info.

A330 can easily get off a 1,838 runway, and with a TODA of 2,271; with a full payload so no surprise really.

Why the Jet2 got diverted to LGW yesterday?

Problems at Bournemouth tonight?

Looking at Flight Tracker the based Ryanair came in from Wroclaw, circled at BOH for a while then diverted back up to Luton.

Any details on what happened?

Freezing Fog happened! RVR for 08 was 500m, temperature currently -5. Hopefully not long before the CAT3 ILS is in service.

A couple of BA diversions from LGW earlier in the evening.

There were a couple of posts back in December saying that the Palmair deal with FlyGlobespan had fallen through and Jet2 would continue to operate their flights. However both Jethros and Skyliner Aviation News are reporting that B736 G-CDKT was ferried Bacau to East Midlands today (Thursday 9/1) for painting into Palmair colours. Is this correct?

Ive heard the Jet2 contract for palmair finishes April! then the GSM 736 takes over as Jet2 need their aircraft back for summer operations! i cant see Jet2 having enough aircraft too leave one in Bournemouth for the summer! But also heard as Jet2 are training the Palmair crew too fly on our aircraft now. so they are looking too lease in an aircraft for the summer too cover! maybe thats the GSM 736,

that would make sense, as GSM has indicated they might not operate from DTV this summer season - which frees up an a/c so they can in turn push the B736 to someone else

But i would think Palmair training for cabin crew on the B733 for Jet2 will only be like a day or two for differences training between B732 and B733 so it isn't unfeasible once the Jet2 contract is finished by April for GSM to provide new 'differences training' for the B736.

It would be too costly for Jet2 to lease the B736, train pilots to the next gen 737 - for only ONE a/c and then operate it for Palmair; when all GSM has to do is bring it out of storage and wet lease it to Palmair with pilots from April 09.

Angel Palmair Aircraft

The Palmair aircraft comming from Globespan from what I can make out will be either a B737 700 or a B737 800.

Globespan will have no B737 600s by the end of the winter.

i guess its no surprise?

Correct, BOH-PIK dropped to x1 daily on the 7th January and now just operates using the BOH based plane leaving BOH at 06:30 returning leaving PIK at 08:10. No doubt a victim of the success of the double daily EDI route.

With regards to the Palmair plane debate, last summer Palmair often used two planes, one primarily doing the charter routes and the other doing the day trips. Unless they have already have something in place with Titan for example, I would have thought they would need to lease two planes. Maybe this is where the confusion is, they are leasing the GSM as well as a Jet2 to cover the summer schedules? No inside information in that guess, feel free to correct...

Palmair are only operating 1 aircraft this summer from Bournemouth with no popular Day trips planned due to the high cost of fuel / costs involved this year only a Venice charter in Feb

The Palmair programme at the moment is as follows

Mon BOH MAH BOH FNC BOH
Tue BOH BSC BOH
Wed BOH CFU BOH
Thu BOH FAO BOH ACE BOH
Fri BOH TFS BOH
Sat BOH PMI BOH MIR BOH
Sun BOH NAP BOH

Palmair have cut some of there flights for the summer with the Tuesday Palma and Sunday Rhodes flights now cancelled and some of the other services now have a shorter season than before ie . Funchal and Lanzarote however these are tough times and makes sense to do this , especially with Palmair operating a larger 148 seater Boeing 737 300 (possibly 144 seats )

In the latest Travel Trade Gazette newspaper it confirms Jet 2 as operating the flights in what is now described as a long term arrangement and that Palmair s original cabin crew were being trained in the aircraft and would take over from Jet2 cabin crew soon

No more base aircraft from FR

Heard on the grapevine that FR now have no plans to base anymore aircraft at BOH. Airport management are in deep shock as all the planed terminal and apron work was based on a five aircraft deal

don't panic

It would be unwise to make such a statement.

I'm sure Ryanair are stalling 2009 expansion, but that doesn't mean they won't expand when they can.

My sources still point at a possible 2nd aircraft in July 09 - in this industry changes happen at the blink of an eye.

BOH still has massive potential. Just look at the performance of ALL airports in the UK right now (apart from LCY!) - its a downward trend. BOH is doing very well to be holding steady.

easyJet may step in - there is always that

There is a delay but no intention to cancel expansion from BOH.

Looks like July 09 possibly one extra a/c

July would tie-in with the booking system at the moment, because the flights to Nantes aren't bookable past the 30th June. If FR are going to drop the route, then why would they run it for 3 months?

Here's hoping they bring in Rome and Venice.

Don't forget BHX, pax figures up in both Nov and Dec (in fact I think Dec was a new monthly record?). If you are holding steady thats good, many airports Dec pax figures are down double digit %'s

FR have stalled up here at BHX too, no additional a/c planned for '09, they were meant to be upto 10 a/c based by next year!! It looks like BRS and EDI are current flavours of the month. I'm sure BOH (and BHX) will see expansion at some point in the future I think at the moment thats all we can hope for

Sorry, because this is the BOH-Thread but how many a/c @ BHX this summer, 4 or 5? And also no expansion @ EMA (still 6 a/c)?

Thought that there will be a huge expansion by FR and U2 this summer in UK because of the loss of XL.

softening yeilds and lack of demand across the UK for non-essential travel is whats causing it. routes that are heavily leisure are worst hit - hence the slow down of expansion at BOH. But '09 fleet will rise to 2 based units at BOH at some-point, most likely July.

If easyJet come into BOH i can tell you that will speed us up in putting in more. BOH is Ryanair territory.
