taxi's aren't great abut are a damn sight better than 20 years ago when I seem to remember only about 10 taxis served the airport at all
the last flight from LHR would see about 50 people lined up for 30+ minutes and the taxi shelter was the size of a bus stop shelter - "welcome to Aberdeen"

Let's just face the fact that until the airport is sold to someone willing to invest money and run the airport properly nothing is going to change, it seems current management is far too reactive, eg the terminal, and not proactive enough, such as lack of stands, terminal size, baggage belts, air bridges, long hail travel and more airlines, Aberdeen should take a long hard look at stavanger airport and realise that's how things should be done

Emergency landings...
to the south of Aberdeen seem to be all the rage just now!
An Army Apache near Maryculter couple of days ago...a light Twin today near the B979!
Thankfully apart from a sore back, the pilot in today's incident is OK .

March continues growth
March figures just in, movements up 9%, passengers at 289,200 up 8.2%, good news for airport, probably not good news for management as they might have to spend a few pounds to cope with extra demand, would be handy if management would wake up to reality and realise investment is desperately needed ASAP and not in 5 years.
My only concern is that as management have said they will spend money only when something is required and not try to be pro-active, we have already passed the stage where things are required so are always going to be playing catch up and missing out on opportunities.
I think new owner/new management

Good to see further increases although Feb & Mar were declines last year so not unexpected.
The plans they have for the terminal should be sufficient I'd have thought for the medium term future. Hundreds of shops aren't going to be added to ABZ due to the nature of the pax. It's something like 55% business traffic and these pax tend to want to get from A to B quickly without messing about in perfume shops. I don't get the appeal of airport shopping personally IMO.
Security is the only area that desperately needs improving urgently. Going through 2 years ago would have taken no more than a few minutes at most. Now, my last few experiences have been a ridiculous 15-20 mins wait.

Was thinking more aircraft stands, especially international stands, and in regards to terminal it's already reached it's maximum capacity, so don't know what happens for 3 years while airport plays catch up

ABZ Business Park - further expansion
BBC News - Aberdeen business park set for £11m investment
The amount of commercial & residential building currently around the city & edges is unprecedented in my lifetime.
You wonder if there will be the demand, but people seem to think so!

Due to the traffic issues around Aberdeen people are willing to move out, and especially closer to the airport.
Anything to avoid using Anderson Drive...................
There isn't that much land in the centre anyway

excuse my Ignorance ive lived away for a few years but what upgrades are Aberdeen going to do . What's needed are more stand sort the taxi ways. Perhaps build a loco terminal and tempt in all the loco stuff into that.
Have the Rest to Domestic -Shuttles. New Routes to Doncaster. DTV Newquay Perhaps Glasgow Edinburgh n Prestwick. . Stanstead and Luton if not Normally served.
And to increase flights to Several a day to Stornoway n Be nebula.
And perhaps Oban. Maybe a Dornie 228 or 328 could Do Oban Aberdeen -Inverness - Glasgow and Edinburgh make it a pro service that's in dire need of better transport links. ( Actually mods please would you start a new Oban thread and transfer this post to that please.

I agree with the more stands and better taxiway system, not too sure about low cost terminal, most airlines are full fare, even Easyjet is not really low cost compared to the likes of Ryanair, I just think the terminal needs to be double story with larger areas for checkin, baggage reclaim, security and customs and waiting areas by gates, especially since the first 3 months of this year has already seen an extra 62k pax pass thru,

I see the MD has joined the board of AECC this week, and of course oor esteemed cooncil are hoping to build a new much larger AECC conference complex near the airport. Hope it's soundproofed!
Local evening paper has a letter today from one of the regular contributors bemoaning the lack of action in securing new routes for the airport, despite management's continuous mantra that they continue to talk to airline partners/work hard trying to secure routes etc. Cites Stavanger/Houston as an example of missing the boat when it comes to Aberdeen management. Something stops easyjet, Ryanair, Flybe from increasing their presence here, despite the area being second only to London/SE when it comes to the economy. Are they still not talking to Ryanair after all these years? Why couldn't they persuade Flybe to increase their presence - they couldn't even stop them closing their base.
I wonder what the latest is on the rumoured disposal of the airport by The British Airports Authority?
