Hi all,
Just wondering if there's any news on how Aer Arann are doing these days? I can't imagine it's much easy being a regional airline in a country hit extremely hard by the recession.
Has there been any movement on the recent €10m investment talks? Or from the recent board meeting where the 'winter survival' plan was presented?
I'm really hoping things pick up as they're a great little airline and from I've heard a very nice bunch of people to deal with.
Cheers,
P2C

RE tried IOM-MAN. When BE, Euromanx and RE were competing on it, it was anticipated that Euromanx would be the one to pull out. But the loads RE got were really low, even for an ATR42 so they were the ones to blink first.
I REALLY SHOULDN'T BE HERE
It has to make money sense though and it won't be easy to compete with an airline six times the size, in a stronger trading position, with much deeper pockets! Also I might add that a random search for a flight in a weeks time shows that the company with the apparent "monopoly" is offering flights to its destinations for significantly cheaper than RE is to its destinations. So j41cac, please explain to us again how more flights from a more expensive airline, with fewer departures, which has previously forsaken the islanders at the first hint of competition will benefit the island's economy?

Looks like they are just targetting United and 'Pool's home Premier and Champions league games and a couple of Sunderland's bigger matches this side of Christmas.

"Restarted:Galway, Carnmore (GWY) to Waterford (WAT)"
Good to see more domestic connections but midweek on this route is of little use to the student/leisure pax who might use it and more a sign of poor loads mid week on LTN route.
"So what happened to the proposed Aer Arann/Nex Aviation deal? Dead duck, or is there a 146 in Aer Arann's future?"
I believe last summers experiment was a one off. The NEX aircraft was last operating under Flightline license. A lot of REs thinner GWY routes were cut last winter, AMS survived for a couple of months after with an ATR operating a reduced schedule via WAT but that was also cut.
If they couldn't make AMS work with an ATR and a stop in WAT then the economics of running a thirsty 146, load restricted out of GWY in a recession look slim.

That's interesting 5Q, I wonder if they are planning on using it for their charter operations, the ATR is limited in range for Europe. Hard to see them operating scheduled with a single type, but you never know with RE.
According to AirFleets.com Flightline went bust last December and G-BTIC currently in storage in the UK, so not sure who owns the aircraft now. NEX still exist, they're based at WAT though no idea what they do, they operated summer charters for Slattery Travel in the past.
