I’ve heard the fail rate for DECs is still quite high during interviews… what is the part where people mostly fail?

Hi guys, one question about Wizzair 14/7 commuting option, does the company provide hotel, or you have to rent an apartment?
Thank you

You are responsible for accommodation at your base, the company only provides the roster pattern to ease commuting. Hotel is provided only for floating pilots (no fixed base).

Basically all except from floating pilots, have a permanent base and are responsible for their accommodation. Whether now you request 14/7, 5/4 or random roster depending on the available options for your base, doesn't matter, you are assigned with a base so it's on you.

Floating pilots is a different story, basically they are assigned a reference base in which it's their responsibility to be there on the 1st and 20th day of their duty, and then the company provides them with suitable commuting tickets and accommodation to their assigned base for these 20 days.

Dear Alexchar,

Good morning, thank you for your message.
I gues for a pilot living in west europe, and commuting, the floating looks like a better option, but i guess with accommodation provided, the salary will be accordingly less...
I will participate on the virtual open day soon, and see what they say, i am based in ME now and i am looking to be closer to home and having more days at home as well, lets see how it goes.
I suppose, all this options are local contract with taxes and social security discounts...?

Cheers

The money is not less, you get a local contract on the country that your "reference" base is, with the same terms as the rest of the colleagues there. The only difference is that you can be assigned different bases, and also during your 20 duty days you get accommodation and an extra daily allowance (so actually you are getting slightly more than the rest).
Wizz has in general local contracts, all taxes and social contributions paid as per local law and double tax agreements between Hungary and Malta, depending on the AOC you are assigned to.

Hi,

I have seen an agency advertising the possibility of flying part-time 14/14 for Wizz with a fixed daily duty payment. Anyone knows more or has been involved with it?
Thanks!

Wizz isn’t the company for you if you want some work life balance. They’ll work you as hard or harder than in the ME and pay you less for it.

Hi Potatos,

Thanks for your opinion.
My calculations are purely mathematics, in ME i can be home 80 days/year and Wizz 14/7 or 20/10, you can be home 120 days/year, or am i missing someting here?
I dont know if they offer Annual leave on top of this, but its more days at home anyway.

Cheers

2500 PIC hours on A320 and hold EASA ATPL.. I currently hold permanent EU residence permit issued by Austria and currently a non EU passport.. I have applied to wizz as DEC and wanted to get Vienna base but they told me that they have long wait for Vienna around 1.5 years or so and once i get line released i can have my name entered in the list for Vienna.. Currently they are offering me bases in Romania and TIA..

i wanted to ask how is the life in these countries as i have never lived in eastern europe before.. is it easy to find accomodation etc.. also they are offering 14on 7off.. My only concern is.. how is the life at these locations.. and which one is the best base in these countries.. thanks heaps in advance for your help guys..

Hi!

For the first month in any base you will get a hotel accomodation. One month is more than enough to research place a bit and find an appartment you will like.
Life there... If you are really willing to commute - just take the base which has the most flights to your home.
If you are going to stay at your base city - of course choose Romania. City - is a matter of preference. I'd say Cluj is the most comfortable place, Bucharest road traffic is annoying. Also smaller bases give you less stress with standby calls and roster changes.

Whenever you will get acess to company internal networks - you'll be able to contact guys from any base - usually locals has some appartments for rent.

PM me if further info is needed.

That’s only if you get the 14/7 or 20/10. Like all things wizzair it can be changed at any time and you won’t have a choice. Or you won’t be offered it in the first place etc

Hi everyone

I’m in the WAH holding pool since I passed assessment in September 2024, so it’s around 5 of waiting now. My date in the candidate profile has changed on 8th January and since then I’m in „base allocation stage and the offer shall be sent out in the upcoming short period of time.” I got that information over month ago, and still no offer. Do you maybe have some clues what’s going on? Or could you share how that was in your case?

Thank you

Hi,

Has anyone got any actual feedback of what life is like in WUK on the line when flying? I'm eager to try and learn what the roster pattern will actually be like. I'm aware of this airline's negatives so would just appreciate some direct feedback on the above.

Thanks

So if wizz offered you a job you wouldn't take it based on if you like the roster?

If you don't have a job take the first job you can get.

From what I hear, 5 on 4 off fixed is available. Two months of random roster. Random roster is the other option if you want extra salary.

suggest you contact a member of the recruitment team if you have questions.
