PAL accident investigation always using benefit of hindsight to the favor of mgt. & to be able to conveniently point a finger to the crew.
Ex. Guam incident.
Capt was demoted bec he made the mistake of attempting to land upon seeing the rwy but after they decided to do a missapp due to rwy not in sight.
But the flight already plowed thru the power lines way before this stage happened. The flt shld have not been dispatched bec facilities in the Agana airport were incomplete due to a recent typhoon.
In short the investigation was focused on looking at any possible mistake the crew commited. But the real cause of the incident was the flight was already exposed to danger before it even attempted the approach in Guam: when it was still in flight dispatch!!!
Kalbo should have resigned after this incident for his responsibility of giving a direct order to dispatch this flight.
Another aggravating fact was LT wanted this flt to proceed to Guam bec he wanted some political mileage in donating power generators after the typhoon to the gov't of Guam.
So how about this for CRM?
Now they will make the A320 pay for the plane?
What else is new?

fly now pay later
I dont believe it that you actually think Pal will make the guy pay for damage done to the airplane, c'mon guys, get real. That's what insurance if for, of course so they will raise the premiums now. No airline pilot has ever been charged for damage of his airplane after a crash, even if he lived to fly again.

"I got news from my sources in ATO that PAL will demand that the Capt of this A320 damaged beyond repair in BXU pay the cost of the plane. Unbelievable!!! "
Let's see... Let's be really, really generous and figure that the Captain's share of the damages amounts to a paltry $5M. Assuming PAL pays its pilots around $5000 per month, The captain should be able to pay it all back in... oh, about 83 YEARS. Assuming, of course, that he lives in a cave and DOESN'T EAT.

D6 and 8ball,
So, i thought PAL is in need of Pilots?
Kapalmuks,
I dont know Koyang as deep as you might have, but I did serve under his division years ago. And personally, just myself I guess, Its not always what it seems for this guy....i think there is still some kindness in him.
I am with one of the Worlds Best Airline, I have no plans to go home yet, not in the near future. Im just speaking ahead.
Cheers,
C1052

non-license a/c mech but taxi boy of LTP?
Sirs.....
thanks for the good advices that you given to me..
and i'm so sorry if i've took so long to reply again...
but can i ask again a question...but slightly related to topic..
i've read the comments about the pal pilot who is responsible for the butuan overshot... and i couldn't believe that he will pay for that damage..!
i'm having a OJT right now at the LTP.....but one of the mech of the lufteck said to me that...but i'm not suprised on what he said..
"bawal ang ma-pressure dito dahil preso ang bagsak mo pag na
pressure ka"
and..."wag kang malikot"
it means that you need to be responsible to all the the work because all the equipment and aircraft cost $$$ millons of dollar!!!
any damage...will be devastated!!!
but what does really mean about this concept?
is there any rule??? although i'm a OJT but...is this a bluff? a joke? challenge? or reality?
i dont have enough money to pay that thing if any unexpected scenario occur!! cause i'm a fresh starter and a newbie!!!
I've planning to have a test to became a MTP after i grad...
but i've think again..
should i continue it or not?
then i ask again if can i apply as a non-license a/c mech..because 2yr experience will be needed before you have the license...
(for experience)
but they said that the company is needed a mech has only lot of experience or.....sister company that you have work for...or
join the 7yr contract as a MTP... (no direct hiring)
my questions are...?
after i grad. in my 2yr course as a a/c technician......
and start to study in flying school and gets PPL or CPL IR ME...rating
could this help me to apply as an non-license mech....
but having a experience in operating a aircraft?
(taxi boy)
because one of the requirements before the aircraft flown off after the maintenance...
to perform a test flight...!(but LTP perform run-up and taxi)
to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft...
and what is the license required for taxiing an Boeing or Airbus???
could this help me to have a experience as a A/C mechanic and additional hours to have a ATPL license???
any advices for this...?
thanks and happy flying!!

Hi Cessna1052,
I thought they were in need of pilots too.... but they seem to shoo away the ones interested.
They were asking a hefty cash bond or a real estate as security from me to ensure I stay. I guess my word and the contract I will be signing is not going to be enough.
So, I thought of doing multi-engine instructing with Omni for awhile.
Capt BHG is a good man.
Regrds
P.S.
Is your psudonym derived from one of the Cessna 172 at PAL Av School ?
I think I saw a Cessna RPC-1053 sometime last week so I guess they have 1052 as well.

Semper,
I think it stands for BEN HUR GOMEZ.
8ball,
C1052 is one of PALs old C152-II, they sold it to a GEN AV flying school and that's where I did my 1st Solo flt.
Try hard,
Im guessing, maybe youngest is 24,25 and Oldest flying now might be 62 or 63(New retirement age is 65). Years before being a Captain? depends who you know. Doesnt necessarily means You need to know the owner himself, you'll be surprised how simple people can push somebody up the corporate ladder. On this part Im not guessing.
Cheers,
C1052

Hi Bansai,
I paid My dues even before I stepped out of PAL. Paid them every single cent, and returned all the stuff they issued. Payment for My Replacement? Its not in My Contract.

another PAL CRM problem
don't you think gentlemen that this jet airways arrest thing is part of PAL's crm problem? if you get my point?
PAL do not want to address the problem of low employee moral bec they are too cheap. LT wants to keep all the profit.
they think of a way of blaming other factors again. like having recruiter arrested or blaming pilots who show up for interview for disloyalty. PAL has no intentions of putting up a safety mgt system which goes into the root causes of incidents. Demoralization is one of the causes.
LT said: it is cheaper to train new pilots than to increase their salary (also means: it is cheaper to intimidate them than to reason with them logically)

Rishworth
One would think that they would have all the necessary clearance from POEA or any government department that is concerned before they do this unlike the Indians.
Well, I'll get the info either in electronic form or by soft copy. Mariles and the rest can look at me all they want. I'll give them the bird.
They have no hold on me....he-he-he
To those not attending, I'll fill you in. I'll get contact and job details for anyone interested.
Wish me luck.

I sure hope Rishworth knows what they are getting themselves into. If the Indians got harrased by LT, there's no reason why they won't do it again to protect PAL assets (pilots) from being enticed by greener pastures of the likes of Dubai. Okay ba Cessna1052.
Hello Bansai, I haven't personally seen the contract with the ridiculous amount but only the email from Mariles telling me the money requirement.
I even replied to her cc: Koyang but no response. Oh well....
I guess they will just have to get their crews from PAL Av School and not from someone like me. As mentioned by my friend C1052, maybe God has better plans for me. Kaya, goodluck to PAL.
Going to attend the Rishworth seminar on Monday.
