good crm
parsifal: congratulations. i hope the young guns can pass this good culture over to their f/o's later. as i said earlier, my fear is that people who complain will do the same practices they complain about.
about capt a: all of you are correct that pal's loose is bupac's gain. i know this guy from way back & he is a real pro & gentleman.

sirs...
can i disturb for a while to the topic...
can i ask some advices before i start my flying carrer next year??
what is the total time required as A F/O or S/O?? in PAL & Bupak??
my plan...is to work first as a Aircraft Mechanic to have a Income to support my flying lessons....(working student)
one of my target is the MTP program of Lufthansa(7yr contract)
but it takes too long before you can go and find another company...
and health threat because of the toxic fumes of gasoline and other chemical used during maintenance....
could this 7yrs is enough to earn my flying hours required to the airline companies? and having a flying sideline before or after work????
any advices for this....???
thanks and happy flying...

kurimaw's game plan
kurimaw: first let me ask you how old you are. your present age will determine how much time you've got. what is your educational background? what is your degree & what school did you finish? how was your academic life? did you do good in school?
how is your general physical condition? is your eyesite 20/20 still? do you think you are not color blind? how about your physical built? is your weight proportional to your height? are you at least 5'4" tall?
i want to tell you that your point of view about the mechanic's job being of a health hazard due to toxic fumes is not accurate. so that only goes to show that a career in the airline is not all about reading from the books or the internet. you can memorize all the fcoms & not understand 100% what they are talking about. you have to do the job & be there exactly to get a full understanding of all this.
also being an mtp is pal will also require your total commitment. being a mechanic is not a simple stepping stone into an airlinepilot's job. it is an endeavor in itself.
i do not want to be a killjoy but unfortunately your salary as a mechanic will not be enought to enroll you into a flight school lest the pal av school.
the pal av school is still the quickest way to land a job as a pilot in pal.
final question & most vital: how much money can you produce? the fee for the pilot's course in the av school is approx P2M payable in 4 parts within a time frame of 2 years.
unfortunately, greedy LT has turned this into a money game. money that is what he cares about.
so you can understand now what this duscussions & the frustrations of the pilots are all about. LT has changed the whole game. In short it is a game that he only wins. he earns money out of you without you starting to be productive yet.
in the past you can qualify into a scholarship program in the av school so even not so rich people will have a chance just like a lot of old pilots like me.
another option is enter the military & land a slot in the phil air force. that will take around an 8 years contract just a year further than the mtp program you are talking about. that is how a poor student like yours truly passed thru to become a pilot. fortunately matters were less complicated during my time.
good luck boy & keep the dream burning.

dont know if this will help but bupac is considering direct hire captains already for this year.were about 90 line capts right now and by mid next year will need to be around 160. current f/o's will produce 20 and the rest will come from outside, so , if you bros know of any qualified formers who wanna fly left seat then do advise them.

Hi Yowdude,
I've heard that two batches are still waiting for the CBT classes to be available. Would you know when in November (if it is ) will the next hiring will be since Bupac is short on facilities at the moment ?
Thanks

To current PAL pilots - sirs, I've heard that ATO has failed the FAA audit. They were suppose to spend 5 days here in Manila but after only 3 days they said that they have seen enough and left. This basically means that PAL cannot enter the U.S. without someone from the FAA monitoring each flight. Is this true ? The ATO Safety chief is in trouble because of this.

Beware: PAL Capt to pay for cost of A320
I got news from my sources in ATO that PAL will demand that the Capt of this A320 damaged beyond repair in BXU pay the cost of the plane. Unbelievable!!!

Just fair
In fairness to the Guy Koyang, I dont think He is that bad to inflict so much pain to his colleagues. Surely Not in this way, to make the pilots pay for the damaged airplanes.
For all we know, It can be one of the Owners i.e.LT, banks, leasing co. etc , or even their lawyers who has given out the idea.

with due respect to c1052, you do not actually know this man. he can be as abusive as he wants & do not even realize it. he thinks he is doing it for PAL. he is not in touch with reality really.

Captain Kaya Ko
Captain Kaya Ko is truly an ass..le, but paying for his mistake is just silly! Or is it? PAL Management doesn't take responsiblity for his error because if they did it would mean that they have to admit they have a problem with CRM. The heart of the mistake lies dead in the middle of PAL CULTURE. But who am I to point the finger?
Mark my words..... if PAL doesn't change CRM culture and bring it into the 21st Century, there will be an accident that will be paid for with passengers lives.
P.S If I were still a PAL pilot I would be looking for a job about now. DANG.... I'd like to think I would take responsiblity for my mistakes... but paying for an A320 is just crazy. Nice idea Koyang!!!
I should have listened to my mommy and become a lawyer!
