Recruitment is an on-going thing as long as the demand is there. 1st interviews are on every friday of the week and up to 50 applicants get screened each time. If all 200 applicants of the month post their interview dates here, wouldn't it be a huge huge clutter?

I am not trying to be a wet blanket here but please dont get too excited over this application. In fact, dont even get excited at all. Getting called up for an interview is not a rarity and the journey does not end here. There is still a final interview and as I have mentioned, the chance of application to contract offer is less than 10%, perhaps even 5%.
Most of the time, I read about people getting so hyped up over the fact that SIA is hiring and "Yay! I have been called up for an interview" syndrome. Instead of letting the excitement get the better of you, channel this energy into useful work like reading up on aviation stuff. In fact, for anyone who is serious about this occupation i suggest more than just reading. Study and memorise like this is yr A levels or final year in Uni!

1st interview
Waited more than 2 hours to get into the room and got drilled. Don't read some of the 95 pages here, read ALL of them. Most of the questions asked have been posted here before. Regret not asking a more intellectual question when it was my turn to ask one. No turning back for me, looking forward to a 2nd if i get one.

I have read quite alot of the post. A big thank you to all who have contributed advice.
I realise that there seems to be no conclusive beyond all reasonable doubt about the min age that SIA will hire. Some say 25+ some say 26 and then there are some that say if RSAF doesnt take you or if you didnt make it through RSAF then you can apply way before 26.
Anyway I am asking this because I am a self sponsored student and will be acquirring my CPL (Australian CASA) when I am 24. I am 23 now. I also read here that my Aussie CPL can be converted but looks tricky. Some people even said it was useless. (I dont care coz i really love flying ta boh leh tahan haha)
So I have a 2 year gap if the min age is 26. If I dont fly for 2 years then my flying skill is going to deterioate.
In my CPL course I have the option of gettting a rating for the CESSNA. But if I am not getting a job in Australia (coz apply for SIA at 24) I wont need that rating. My chief instructor told me this coz he knows I want to make my training as cost effective as possible.
Thus what is the min age that you can apply for SIA? is it 24?
Coz if it is then I will go ahead with getting my CESSNA rating. So I can try and find a flying job in Australia for 2 years.
If it isnt then I dont think i will go ahead with the CESSNA rating.
Also anyone here knows where I can find flying jobs in Australia?

My old CASA CPL states under XII A/C Endorsements: M/E Aeroplanes <5700kg, PA34, LR45 etc etc. A CPL is like a driving license - it states the category or specific type of a/c you are qualified to fly. Getting a CPL does not entitle you to fly every a/c in the world.

For those of you who have done Lasik before, how do you prove your pre-lasik eyesight for SIA interview/medical? I had a card from my lasik centre. Will this be enough or will they require a letter from the doc?

I have being called up for interview on 07 May. But I just joined a new company and it is inconvenience for me to apply leave to attend the interview. 1) Do you think I can request my interview to postpone it to June in my return email? 2) Where can I do my eyesight and colour test. Normal GP cannot do eyesight test without specs?

if you could, it would b better for you to attend the interview instead of postponing it

I know of people who fly in internationally just to attend the interview, regardless how much of an inconvenience it may cause. These individuals got through the interviews.
If you postpone it, it says alot about how much you want in. Sad to say, but employers these days can be *that* judgmental. Trust me, whatever it takes, don't ask for a postponement. You may not even get a reply after that.

SIA will not recongnise aussie CPL...so even if u got Auz CPL..you will still need to go thru the whole training program...just that they let you fly abt 30hrs less on the initial flying program...thats abt it...
the only atpl licence they recongnise is NZ,UK,Msia licence...you can check this with CAAS...for the list of licence singapore CAAS recongnise...
if you are in RSAF and have dropout from the training program...you can apply for SIA if you are 26 or less...if not they will not look at you after 26...

Its not SIA that does the recognition. Previously, CAAS only recognises a few licenses but as of last year, they are willing to convert most licenses around the world. There are a few clauses of course.
As for the RSAF 26 year old ruling, its a myth. Over the years, I have not met a Singaporean that joined earlier than 24 yrs old.

I am currently residing in Australia and I am considering taking my CPL as it is packaged together with a PPL, in this case, does it mean it makes more sense to have a PPL alone to stand a better chance?

If you are flying for the love of it, by all means go ahead and get a CPL!
If you are there for the sake of a "better chance" whatever that means, I must repeat for the umpteen time - GETTING A LICENSE DOES NOT GIVE YOU AN ADVANTAGE during the selection process. You are probably there for the wrong reason.
You will not be the first CPL holder to apply and neither will you be the last. A lot if not most CPL holders get rejected. Yes, the truth hurts!

it depends on how deep is your pocket....
like i have said...having a CPL..doesnt grant you any privilege towards the selection process....its only till you have been selected...then the cpl or frozen atpl will be of use...

Thanks everyone for their replies, I am actually based next to Jandakot Airport in Perth, so I was seriously thinking of doing a CPL since it is so near my house, however the high cost is another issue for me.
I probably go get a GFPT first and work from there. I won't rule out applying for other airlines, but heart is where home is, and being in Singapore would be my preferred option.
