JAA is more based on the theory, if you want succed, you need both, FAA for the hours and JAA because europe is the only place ...

if they dont find anybody with a type rating, tjey will pay you it.
when an airline run a B737, believe me, they can offer you the type...

Some come to fly.So think now, all these tourists can not rent anymore an aircraft for 5 or 10 hours to enjoy a freedom...

personally I dont think the JAA licenses are the solution to any wanabees wanting to fly as an airline pilot in the futur.
but in my case, is it due to my US/worlwide experience if i can look ahead...

hi,
what I heared to convert your FAA to JAA is the 14 tests, MCC and IFR.
IFR is 15 hours min.if you have a FAA IR and you have to pass the IR test in england.! and a 1 st class medical.

for some guys, it took up to 15 years to get the first paid flying job, so I dont see why airlines should give you a job with 200h and a frozen when high qualified are waiting since 10 years to sit...

and J1 visa is NOT a "work visa".You can be paid by your school for 1/4 of your time training.Means 18 months study and 6 months fly as a cfi....
