Licence conversion FAA->JAA

What's the story in converting FAA Commercial to a JAA CPL?

I have had different responses from different sources.

I have been told that someone that all is required is a satifactory 170A then a skills test with a CAA Examiner is required.

But then again, I have been told no credit is given whatsoever and a full 25 hour approved course is necessary.

Can anyone offer any concrete information.

I have the 14 JAR ATPL writtens out of the way.

hi,
what I heared to convert your FAA to JAA is the 14 tests, MCC and IFR.
IFR is 15 hours min.if you have a FAA IR and you have to pass the IR test in england.! and a 1 st class medical.

No minimum hours for the JAR CPL - just training to the discretion of the FTO.

I agree with the greaser. I followed this root to a frozen ATPL 5 years ago. I came back to the UK with 1000hrs (400hrs twin), mostly from instructing, FAA CPL/IR and still had to do a GFT and an IR. Just no minimum hours requirement. Although with the implementation of JARs i'm sure it's changed e.g. requirement for MCC for example.

Good luck and don't be afraid to bang on a few tables! I found foreign licence conversions come right at the bottom of most schools priority list.
