You can only dump from the aft galleries on a 380 so the aircraft will quite feasibly still be overweight for landing.

However this isnt isn’t normally an issue. In a dire emergency...

The A380 has a similar approach speed to an A320 at MLW and it was probably chosen to roll to the end of 22 and use BTV rather than hammer the brakes...

GLS is fantastic and I tend to use it wherever it is available, I think the testing on GLS autolands for the 380's in SYD was so accurate that they had to stop it as one particular piece of tarmac...

I use it regularly on the A380 when doing trans polar routes.
Our flight plan and the EFIS uses grid tracks. Particularly useful over northern Canada.

Nobody seems to understand the theory...

The short answer is yes it is still used today even in modern jets so it's a useful skill to know.
