the original unedited footage
It records onto a Micro SD card...how big is an electron? ...and how many would you need to make a "foot" of tape?

...and if it is a digital tape, is it a metric foot or an imperial foot?

...I give up...

On the way from Olympic Dam to Leigh Creek...
Not hard to guess the strip below..

Will post some pics later....I did not hear you around the ridges over the weekend...you must have been hiding!

There is a lot of water around in a lot of places. Was a great weekend!

OK

For those not able to get out to see the regions of the Coongie Lakes, Goyder Lagoon and Lake Eyre, here are some more to add to Pilotette's collection.

Cooper Ck near Lake Mackillop just Nth of Durham Downs

Not sure what the big red constructions were?? Anyone know?

Fancy that!! Another Retard Vehicle....

coming into the Coongie Lakes region

And a quick stop for fuel food and the loo!

More to follow........

On our way to Innamincka......Lake Hope.

Cooper Creek trying to make it to Lake Eyre

Not sure what its name is but its a pretty colour!

Moomba with waterfront land

Now where is this airstrip.....excuse the rowdy lot in the middle of the shot!

Jaba
Last year (5th.May 09), when I took the Frigatebird 1, YIMT-via the Groove-YWMC-YIMT, to see the Waters, when flying low over the eastern side of Lake Eyre it was hard to see the channel where Cooper Creek joins as there was no flow in then. How close to the Lake is the water in Cooper Creek now, or is it already flowing in? If not, do you think it will make it, or peter out in the desert again?
We had looked at Cubby on the way out then, it was dry then - would be very different now..

Lots more water out there this year FB, the Cooper is still over the causway/road (5M)at YIMT, the camp sites are still under water and you would have to think it would make it to the Lake, but only a local would know.

Its not flowing into the lake yet. We saw where it had made it to so far and that was still a ittle way to go, and it spreads out a bit in various places.

Pilotette or others working out there may be best to answer that one.

Wondered that myself, so I went searching...

Turns out he used the 747's Alternate Gear Extension system to drop the NLG on descent, then the mains when required. The system can be seen on the panel here just to the left of centre...

Further to KRviator's find....to the left and up a bit is 'Flt Controls Hyd Pwr' followed by 'rudders, elevators, spoilers, ailerons and CCA'. Can anyone tell me what CCA is?

Towering Q - your question on CCA started to get to me so I did some research

I think it means Central Control Actuator. There's a bit of a technical discussion here that may be of interest.

Hey Jaba, very disappointed I didn't see or hear you around the traps! I was flying a couple of vets around to a few stations doing preg testing while you were living it up the scenic way

Frigate, its hard to know whether the Cooper water will make it all the way down to the Lake but there are some serious plans being put in place at the moment for the ferry accross the Birdsville Track to become operational again this year. One good sign is the fact that Lake Hope is completely full and there is a lot of water yet to come! The waters have started to subside at Innaminka and I'll post some photos shortly of the creek at Innaminka that I took yesterday.

Jaba, I'm intrigued by that strip and it looks very familiar but can't put my finger on it just yet!

Yes. Thought I'd add some trees and a hill to balance the outback photos. Always makes me think, when I pass this hill, that the raindrops that fall on its western side are destined never to reach the sea off South Australia.. Love the doughy taste of the Bunya nuts too..

Is that the one that was up the pole at Bull Creek? Now inside and restored to static condition. I believe it was replaced by a fibre glass replica.
