Sweden has agreed to send 60 soldiers to a logistics center in one of Ukraine's neighboring countries. They will assist in the repair and maintenance of Swedish weapons provided to Ukraine such as the CV90, Leopard 2 (Stridsvagn 122), Archer and RBS-70.

Furthermore, and also very important, Sweden announced that it will start training Ukrainian pilots on the JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet.…

Cv90 arriving, more Patriot missiles from Germany, more Leopards from Spain, more leopards from Denmark and Netherlands, more M113 from Spain, replacement Bradleys from the USA, more air defence systems from various countries.. it does feel like the taps have been well and truly turned on.

The fact that replacement vehicles are being supplied and of the quality already provided, while Russia has to replace their losses with T 64 and T55's is telling... it reminds me of the end of the Cold War when Russia bankrupted itself trying to equal the Wests military output, and they are playing the same hand again, but just on an accelerated time frame due to the war.

The doctrine was enforced brutally ....... anyone late for a promotion board interview was deemed NFI and failed on the spot.

We had a '5 minute early' rule for all briefings. I was once given a rollocking for being 2 minutes late for being 5 minutes early!

Pentagon leaks suspect faces 60 years in jail after indictment

The US airman suspected of leaking more than 100 pages of classified documents online faces up to 60 years in jail after being charged with six counts of retaining and transmitting classified national defence information.

Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts air national guardsman, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston two months after being arrested by FBI agents for posting secrets on Discord, a messaging platform.

Each charge under the Espionage Act carries a sentence of up to ten years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Teixeira, 21, allegedly shared highly classified military documents… about Russia’s war in Ukraine and other national security issues…..

If duly convicted of these charges, he should receive the maximum.

I still find it bizarre that a junior member of the ANG had unsupervised access to such material. Don’t they have compartmentalisation?

It needs something along those lines to deter others from doing similar.

Wishful thinking. People of that ilk do not consider the consequences of their actions. Their only desire is the adulation of their online community. The only way to protect secret material is to carefully control and monitor those who have access to it.

When you think back to Bradley Manning who was also an analyst, it seems not, even when they are given clear signs of leaking. This is an excerpt from Wiki:

"Nicks writes that Manning was reprimanded while at Fort Huachuca for posting three video messages to friends on YouTube, in which she described the inside of the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) where she worked.[76][77][78][79][80] Upon completion of her initial MOS course, Manning received the Army Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal.[81]"

Teixeira was also reprimanded at least twice by his superiors for accessing data he had no right to see: it appears that access was based on trust rather than physical/electronic security.

Well, it apparently was not unsupervised. It’s reported that he was corrected for certain infractions before. But he was poorly supervised, it seems, which makes his poorly performing supervisors culpable. I only served on active, not in the guard, so I don’t know how loose (undisciplined) things can be. I do have experience with the reserves and must say from that limited view, things were not “regular”.

NutLoose 16th June 2023 17:46

I do hope they test this out on him first to ensure he is immune.

The best security systems can be defeated by idiots. I once worked in a department that reproduced TS material. One day I asked a junior RN Officer why all her colleagues asked for two copies for their reports, but she always requested three. She was collecting her own portfolio. Sh1t, meet fan.

Someone's been watching too many James Bond flicks.

Obba 16th June 2023 19:01

I wonder how they are going with the Night Vision tech on the equipment that has been supplied to them?

Don't the Bradley's and the Leopards and other Fighting Vehicles (Australian Bushmasters NVG compatible cabin tech), have the latest NV stuff that also (supposedly), has kilometers of range advantage over the Russian stuff?

One would think that as the Russians are dug in in the places Ukraine is trying to advance through, it would be easy pickings with this latest tech.

NutLoose 16th June 2023 19:35

I must admit I did wonder why they were not taking advantage of the night, I suppose the threat of mines is slowing them down.

Several blogs i have seen have specified that they are going to prioritise night operations to use their advantages in nv sights.

You'd think that any (enemy), engine of any sort would light up like a torch with the current alleged NV tech.
Don't 'we' have some sort of F&F missiles that just go for Infrared sources?

It sounds a lot easier to hit the enemy at night as through the day, you can't 'see' the enemy unless it's in an open environment. Heat signatures can be seen through trees, etc.

And any latest NV Gen stuff we see on TV/UT, etc is old by what the military has?

You are confusing Night Vision and Infra Red Imaging

Yes - for obba, the first amplifies light and focuses it on a phosphor screen as an image - the second detects thermal radiation using a supercooled detector and the image is presented on a TV style screen.

Two technologies using different parts of the electro magnetic spectrum.

ORAC 17th June 2023 06:30

Video published by Yevgeny Prigozhin. He went to Russia's Ministry of Defence to hand over the signed agreement which would allegedly subordinate Wagner PMC to the Ministry of Defence - which they refused to accept….
