On Sunday, February 27, Vladimir Putin held a meeting in the Kremlin with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.

"The top officials of the leading NATO countries also allow aggressive statements against our country. Therefore, I order the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff to transfer the deterrence forces of the Russian army to a special mode of combat duty. "Yes," answered Shoigu and Gerasimov.

Putin also noted that Western countries are taking unfriendly actions towards our country in the economic sphere: they are imposing illegitimate sanctions .

The meeting took place against the backdrop of a special military operation of the Russian Federation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.

I've been joking about Vlad being out of his mind, but now I am starting to get worried that he really has lost his mental health. A sane creature would realize that an assault with even the smallest nuclear weapon on earth would mean an instant and total closure from the international community and a response from all the armies in the world.
If that response is in a low level there will only be about 10 million chinese invading from the south amongst others. If it spirals off entirely, Russia will cease to exist with majority of mankind. The countries that are left will fight on who has to take the worst contaminated land areas under control.

I remember my parents being very worried during the Cuban crisis. What if Putin is threaterning a tactical nuclear strike on an Ukrainian City unless they surrender?

In which case he claims an irradiated wasteland as part of Mother Russia? And invites the rest of Ukraine to be the same?

There is neither logic nor benefit in that course of action … only more Global action against him. So I have to think it’s posturing and leverage. Unless he really has lost it, and is certifiable.

The whole thing seems to be falling apart for Putin - which is why we should be worried about what he’ll do next.

As a reminder, if he starts using TOS-1 and other area weapons against Ukrainian cities, as he did against Grozny, that would be a war crime and the weapon crews and everyone in the chain of commander liable - and as with MH17, SIGINT, satellite and social,media video will track them down.

I hope I'm right that Vlad doesn't actually have the button. The firing will be done further down the chain, and hopefully saner minds will prevail. It's happened before. At least twice in history a single Russian has managed to stop would could have been a nuclear conflict.
