What chances of Putin trying a nuclear ‘false flag’ operation to “justify” his use in response…..?

Like with Trump I’m not 100% convinced the chain of command would follow his orders know it meant their demise as well. For something as small as the Ukraine conflict. Sorry Ukraine, but you get my meaning. |

I believe the point being made here is about Russia as a nuclear power. At the end of the war they weren’t and there was serious consideration made by the USA about using them against Russia - the world would have been different if they had.
No matter, they didn’t. But apart from nuclear weapons Russia is, at best, a second rate power. It’s GDP is the equivalent of Spain’s, it’s population is the same as Spain’s (which is why they were upset at how they were treated by the EU in negotiations). The world, especially NATO, is walking on eggshells around them whilst they act as if they are invulnerable - the risk is that others, especially China, North Korea and Iran will do the same. it si, perhaps, time to accept that nuclear weapons are an unusable weapon. Any user, including Russia, will suffer immediate overwhelming response if they use them. Russia won’t use them if other nations help defend Ukraine - otherwise why would he believe NATO nations would help defend, say, Estonia? We are back to the Yes Prime Minister quandary. Otherwise would we defend Estonia, or Lithuania, or Latvia, or Poland… https://youtu.be/o861Ka9TtT4 Inidividual nations are not NATO. France and the UK are (at least for a few days) in Mali, the UK and USA are still in Syria, operating in strained conditions against Russia, etc. There is no reason why the UK or USA should not provide F-35 squadrons to provide air cover over Ukraine outside NATO, or squadrons of AH-64s to defend Kyiv if asked. If Putin threatens retaliation, ask his military and cabinet if the debacle in Ukraine is worth the price of nuclear war. Your proposal and suggestion about nuclear weapons is totally nonsensical. An overwhelming response by the rest of the world against Russia if Putin goes nuclear would see a cataclysmic nuclear exchange with humanuty being effecively wiped out. And i am not sure that a coalition of 27 nations supplying Ukraine with weaponry, and the most comprehensive financial and economic sanctions seen in history, is 'pussy footing around!" UK and US F-35's providing an air cap and AH-64's defending Kyiv? NOT NATO? you are having a laugh... |

The fact they have to say it…..

That Defcon site above is NOT the official Defcon level. The official level is classified - the highest level was 3 during 9/11 and 2 during the Cuban Missile crisis.

Worth a read in full.

US response to Putin putting nuclear forces on alert.

The latest news suggests that the book "On The Beach" by Nevil Shute could be on its way to being fact rather than fiction.
In about 1957, Shute wrote of a radiation cloud moving south towards Australia/New Zealand etc, after a nuclear exchange wiped out the northern hemisphere. Old Duffer |
President of EU Commission says they are shutting down all EU airspace to Russian aircraft.
Ban includes all aircraft owned/leased by Russian oligarchs. EU also banning Russian-owned media (Russia Today and Sputnik) within the EU. |
I wonder does this include the roaming Bears? And what happens if they keep coming?
|
This is getting really out of control….

The Bears don’t fly over EU or UK sovereign airspace.

Perversely, to save face. He’s mad enough to want to go out in a blaze of “glory” saying it was necessary to protect Mother Russia. Every step of this war/conflict has been based on false flag operations.

I fear that we are closer to a nuclear exchange now than we ever were during the "Cold War".
Maybe not strategic - I hope not - but possibly tactical. "If I can't have Ukraine, then I'll trash it so no-one wants Ukraine". Nuclear, or chemical, or biological - who knows?? We are dealing with a mad man - I hope his Generals are less mad, and have the ability to see into their future, and somehow contain him. I am not optimistic. I shall continue with my sleepless nights. |
