EK Payrise

Just heard from a mate of mine; EK payrise of 8% + 12 weeks bonus.......

loc22550 11th May 2011 14:34

Thanks BarrowBoy for coming here to sack Qatar airways pilot's morale...:{
EK might not be a 5 stars bla bla bla airline but at least at the end of the day they always reward their crew for their hard work...:D

BarrowBoy 11th May 2011 14:55

Well I am hoping it might force those in QR towers to reciprocate....but then again:ugh:

Fubaliera 11th May 2011 16:42

QR invests in QR not its people, it could care less. Its just the local rural cheapskate slavedriver mentality.

"Why wouldnt you want to do a CDA each and every time to your best ability and within the clearances given by ATC? If the company doesnt care, why dont you?"

"OK, ATC issues steps on the way down but there is no reason not to do CDAs within these step descents, its better on fuel and is the professional thing to do."

"A CDA can be tailored to be stable at whatever point one chooses if one knows the 3 times table!"
"The only reason that people give why not to do them is 'the company doesnt care about fuel'....IMHO I think that the main the reason is people cant do them because in the ME noone is taught and ATC do not expect them. In the ME we dont get to do them often, and people dont make themselves do them and so really cant do them!!"
"Heathrow, Gatwick and Europe causes fear and exposes poeples lack of knowledge of the CDA......Im sure it will change in time as we drag ourselves into the era of modern and professional aviation standards."

Really?

Flapsfullretard,

I don't agree with you on the fact that if you think that you are not treated as a professional you will not act as a professional...:=

If you are a professional you always try to act as a professional.

But if you are frustrated to see other pilots in other companies paid more than you then try to make it happen in yours or leave and join another company BUT deciding to burn more fuel because you don't get a pay rise can not in anyway seen as a professional behavior :\

FFR and B7, you both been around these places to understand each other malcontent and probably sharing it on pprune is one way to coupe with it!

Spam you've got a point!
EU/UK is a bit different from Qatar on what they expect us to do in term of CDA, noise reduction/abatement and other technique and/or procedure! ... but comparing the two reality is technically not fare.

Now, 15NM out of NAJMA it's a little bit conservative :O (unless ATC or anything else required you to be level 15NM out)!

Don't get me started on the people that think you need to be level at najma 2000ft.
Or say that V/S stand for Very Stupid and should never be used
Correct, we do no have to be level at 2000ft at NAJMA (it is not a hard altitude) but if we aren't level at NAJMA, we are in one of the following situations then
  1. we intercepted the G/S further out of 6.1DME IBD and we are in great shape (the only concern is that we might have intercepted a false G/S signal, but if we've identified the ILS and performed altitude x-check at 2000 ft, we are perfect). Ideal!
  2. we are above the G/S (shouldn't if we performed a V/NAV PATH descent, but **** happened!). Now we have to press V/S to get back on the G/S. Nowadays, according to Mr.boeing technique, it is not an 'elegant' way to intercept an ILS . Why? Because it all depends on how high we are above the G/S. In V/S mode, although we had selected the speed on speed window the plane will keep the VVI constant (the one selected on the MCP). In this situation, with idle power and the boards out the only way the keep the plane from accelerating is to add more drag by lowering the gear before flaps. And again, it depends how high we are, we need to fight to be in LND configuration by 1000ft. If we are skilled and lucky enough, we saved the app but very close to GA.
  3. we are below the G/S. If between 1500ft and 2000ft, just climb back into the G/S. If below 1500ft (below MSA) a GA would be a solution.
Probably 4 to 5nm out of NAJMA would put us in a good position to see the G/S becoming alive in order to follow our normal configuration sequence without having to fight with our ego (especially after 14h flight).
Fuel consumption, noise and CO2 emission are reduced. We fly safer and green, with lots of happy l-endings!:)

Interesting FFR only 10 months ago you wrote:-

"I along with many many others moved from UK to the Gulf and I have to say that I was nervous and not really looking forward to but now I am here, I cannot see me coming back!!! Lifestyle, pay and family life are ace here, you can keep your 6 month garbage contract with easyjet on dreadful money...and from most of the 80+ brits that came to this place, certainly the family blokes feel this way!!!"

I do hope the rise at EK only accelerates the number of departures at QR, that way it has to better it here...although nothing surprises me with this bunch. :ugh:

jet hours small biz jet

Hi

Small question: if you have around 1500 jet time, but on a small business jet (10tons), and you want to apply, do you have to select Second or First Officer on the appl.form??

Not sure what to do.

thx

loc22550 12th May 2011 14:18

Can someone answer my question? I need to finish it 2morrow.

Tx

flyforfood1 12th May 2011 15:53

What I mean't was...if EK have been given a payrise and the so called "agreement" between the 2 has been torn up (as EK need the numbers too) that will only lead to an acceleration in numbers exiting....therefore in order to keep guys and heaven forbid attract even more, something will have to give at some point, I hope....if not this place will struggle to fill seats, just like the 2 320's sat in Toulouse. :D

I know personally of 7 guys who are leaving/left (maybe its the same 7 ;))

Me, i'm of the same camp, don't like the outfit either :yuk: - when my bond is up you won't see me for dust (no pun intended). :ok:
