Not surprised really. However, doesn't it require the go-ahead from Unite before a ballot can actually take place? Don't count on that happening.....
It depends on which news source you read :

Union warns new BA strike 'inevitable' | Business | guardian.co.uk Says.....
The Unite trade union has warned that a new strike ballot in the British Airways cabin crew dispute is "inevitable", with the Christmas holidays a potential target for action.
Whereas : BA cabin crew hold crunch talks today-06 September, 2010

However, Unite joint general secretaries Tony Woodley and Derek Simpson say they are still looking for a peaceful resolution to the long-running dispute, which the union claims is continuing to hit BA's traffic.

Fair enough. What grounds are they intending to ballot over? Remember of course that if they want legal protection from "unfair dismissal", those grounds must be unrelated to their previous action.

Well, the link above contains the full quotation from Unite, but the bit you are asking about is: -

Brendan Gold, Unite's national secretary for civil air transport, said a new ballot was likely due to three outstanding issues: the imposition of changes to work practices; the sacking of 14 crew for alleged offences committed during the ongoing dispute; and the withdrawal of staff travel perks
...so yes, it looks very much like any IA will indeed be unprotected, although for all the protection that protected IA grants I dont really think that's a huge issue.

(Cross post from the Pax thread now, but hey-ho)

Just to get in before the duty BASSA person turns up and tells us of the 000s who turned up. Check Kempton Parks room capacities.

Kempton Park Rooms And Facilities

Largest possible room max capacity 650.

Bring it on. Then we can get rid of the cretins, and try and make the business sustainable.

Duncan, Lizanne, et al, can all move to cushy jobs with Unite, and the rest will spend the rest of their lives blaming everyone but themselves. Anyone remember Arthur Scargill? How's he doing, these days, and how are the people, he purported to represent?

In all fairness it matters not really whether one, or one thousand turned up. It's the same core of individuals who are intent on seeing this through regardless of consequence. Additionally who'd likely stick their hand up in the middle of an orchestrated event such as this and declare their opposition? I'd wager no-one, most likely, so those opposed would, I'd guess, just have stayed away. I note that Lizanne made unsubstantiated (and as far as I can ascertain from other sources, false) claims about the status of some of the flight crew involved in issues at the moment. No change there then.

But looking at the three points:

1. The imposition happened a year ago and no one seems too bothered about it now
2. The sackings seem to have been carried out after some totally unacceptable actions. I doubt BALPA will be calling for strikes over the sacking of the facebook ranter.
3. The return of ST has been offered in various different forms and each time rejected.

Reading the report from sky news it seems that only"Dozens of BA flight attendants met at Kempton Park Racecourse to debate the need for a new strike poll." Hardly a huge show of support from the thousands of members of BASSA.

Lets not forget, this is still resolving issues that should've been dealt with by effective and mature negotiations leading up to the June 2009 deadline. The company needs to move on and it has done to survive.

Don't know if this link will work, but it doesn't look very busy to me...

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6579673_n.jpg

Those yellow flowers at the front are making me feel upset about the yellow hijack though.
I have seen some photos, taken from different angles which show more people there. They're not my pictures so I can't show them. Sadly one picture is of two children with yellow t-shirts with the slogan "BA sacked my mum". (Or mother or mummy can't quite make it out).

Cessna

Possibly that's why they went to Sandown Park instead.
Confusion abounds on this point, this news source reports the meeting as being at Kempton also. They are both rather close to each other I guess.

Wrong!

Cessnaeng suggest you look at the reports in the Guardian, Sky News, Fox News, BBC and other news agencies. They all place the meeting at Kempton. Indeed the BASSA note says/Kempton Park. You must have been at the wrong meeting. BTW have Bassa now stooped to using pre-school kids to bolster their numbers at meetings ? They might be to advanced for the level of discussion.

The video report on Sky News defintely shows Kempton Park in the background, however the numbers game has begun.

SkyNews : over a thousand
Fox News : over two thousand

Sandown Park?

from The Guardian
"...A mass meeting of BA flight attendants at Kempton Park Racecourse later today..."

Sky News
"...More than 1,000 BA flight attendants met at Kempton Park Racecourse to debate the need for a new strike poll..."

The 4X4 flying red Unite flags I saw this morning going through Twickenham certainly seemed to be heading for Kempton Park. It was a long way off course for Sandown Park.

When will we know the schedule for the ballot and when results will be published ?

Obviously they will not announce the results until early October so they can have the option for disrupting everyones Christmas (90 days etc)

Lets hope this all brings the IA to a head and 2011 starts will a blank sheet of paper for BA cabin crew ...

Apologies for the wrong info.

P.S. I wasn't at the meeting so don't assume I'm BASSA from the posting.

And bassa are now having a little online poll, asking if members are prepared to pay an extra £5 pm to support Staff Travel-less commuters!

BASSA being untruthfull..........again

I have recorded evidence of Lala proclaiming that 2 pilots have been sacked over the facebook debacle. (and the cheers that come after)

This is completely untrue, as lala knows, so then why would she lie to everyone??

A question BASSA members should be asking themselves

Pornpants,

What actually happened to those pilots? I've heard so many different stories, so I'm very confused. If you don't want to post it here, feel free to pm me. Thank you.

IAW BA procedures the result of the discipinaries is between them and their managers but it's not rocket science to establish if these two are still coming to work. Other well informed sources, closer to the issue than LM, are adamant that they have not been sacked.
