Thank you for posting this - this thread is littered with non-relevant postings
Is that really true? A lot are from angry customers venting frustration, many of whom state they will never fly BA again. The fact is that the decision to strike has already done the damage. And that damage will take a long time to repair. The people posting may not be cabin crew (or even involved in aviation). They may not be overly well informed as to your Ts and Cs or working practices, but they pay your wages and they are off.

I'm sure nobody doubts you work hard as cabin crew. It's a responsible job and I'm sure the customers can be very demanding. But when a companies survival (and hence your jobs) are at threat, its difficult for those looking in from outside to understand your actions, let alone condone them. More especially when your plight is no different from a vast majority of the working population. Do you not think that there are cut backs at other companies? Do you think that the staff who remain at such companies are not being asked to work harder for no extra reward? Sympathy is going to be really thin on the ground. If BA were making record profits I could understand your position, and would probably be more accepting of the situation, but they are not. Fact.

As it is my family are looking at a really bleak Christmas (not all down to BA I must add, but they are certainly playing a big part). Do BASSA really think that this will be forgotten by next Christmas? Because I beg to differ.

All of that said, I would like to extend my gratitude to all of those CC that can see the current climate for what it is, have the courage to work hard to keep their jobs, and voted no to the strike. It at least gives some pax and their families a fighting chance this Christmas.

Her postings on the BASSA forum were pretty central to BA's QC's argument according to the Beeb.

PS One of the UK's top 10 airlines, Globespan, has just gone into administration. But not in LaLa land presumably.

The cabin service was poor and the flying quite frankly was bellow average. I will never fly BA again. Moving on. I had a partner who worked for BA.
Oh, so the flying was bellow average. Bellow?? As in shout loudly or produce a lot of air? Hmmm. Says it all really. Let the CC do what they believe in. No-one should call off a strike because it might just upset someone. No-one would ever strike if that was the case.

Mr Bunker and Bealine quoted on the news this evening

I've encouraged worried cc to come and have a read on here, and they've felt more reassured and certainly more informed.

Suspect it's a crewforum acolyte come on over here to impart wisdom and knowledge to all the unelightened. I was minded to reply to his/her post re: OpenSkies and our strike ballot but, hey, it seems it may be pointless.

"but given what happened to Ms Malone in the Court today"

I missed that. What happened?
Not looking too good for her - UNITE apparently sent out ballots to some 1000 crew who left on VR - Miss Malone still encouraged those to still vote.

Miss Malone has been a bit too ambitious on the BASSA forum!

Is this why UNITE asked for the hearing to be adjourned and continued tomorrow?

ITV News Request

Hello,

I'm a journalist from ITV National News and decided to join this forum in order to guage Cabin Crew's reaction to the strike.

I can see there are different opinions on the length of the strike but generally support for it taking place.

If anyone wants to raise certain issues which they feel needs public attention, they can contact me at [email protected].

Thanks

Chris

How on earth do you see that there is general support for this strike?

Have you read even one page of this thread?

Amazing.

Good on the B/A cabin crew for industrial action.
Pilots wont stand with you?
From the pointed end you could not stack any of us in a box and get us to stand together.
From The Majors to the scum bags, all the same.
Good luck and some of us wish you the best!

I dare you to go on strike. At least then the company has reason to sack you. Read this article, I think you'll find there are PLENTY of people to take your place RIGHT NOW

Chris,
I suggest you read the whole thread from the beginning. You will find the "general support" is probably more prevalent on BASSA forums where opposing comment is not permitted.

Mr Gibson, can you also check facts with others who know (Mr Bunker at least is married to senior cabin crew). A lot of the stuff some cabin crew have been saying in the press is a pretty skewed version of reality and based more in the pap BASSA have fed them over the last 12 months. I'm thinking the blaming fines (all accounted for 3 years ago in a profitable year), fuel hedging losses (BA have made a net profit over many years, last year being exceptional) etc etc. That and the tendency to believe that their pay is the figure in the bottom right hand corner of their payslip (after all deductions, including pension and any money spent downroute and withdrawn in the hotel).
