Hi Craic;
I had an interview with EK last month here in Bangkok. Waiting for my final result now. The two recruiters were Sally and Maria.
The process was still the same as before.
1ST DAY
1st round - group discussion on 2 topics then elimination
2nd round - English test then elimination
3rd round - more group discussion on a few topics then
elimination again
4rd round - Personality test (16PF)
2ND DAY
2-on-1 interview for about 30 mins ++
Try to stay in the happy medium range. It wouldn't hurt to be supportive once in a while to those who got stuck in the discussion. Summarizing the discussion will put you up in the spotlight. Make it impressive that's your score!
Good Luck Tomorrow!!

Way to go Craic!!!!! Good luck on the final interview, I'm sure they'll hire you because you really deserve it! I hope to work with you on a flight one day when I'm a full-fledged Emirates cabin crew!!!! You'll be the pushy purser while I'm still a lost Economy cabin crew. Hehehe just kidding!

Well done craic!!!! So happy for you!!! I am sure the 2-2-1 interview will be a formality for you. It's very exciting to know that one of us has got through!!!
My assesment is at the end of the month. What is this personality test? What kind of questions do they ask?
well done again

Basically the personality test is a multi choice test. asks questions like, would you prefer to work as an architect or a business development manager?, do you prefer to keep the peace or do what you want? etc
There are also some like, adult is to child, as cat is to...kitten
you answer the questions by reading it and ticking the box of your "natural" first choice.
nothing to stress about
As for the 2-2-1 interview, formality yes but nevertheless I am still very nervous. I can't think of any senarios hehe! What questions so you think they will ask?

HI Craic!!!
Thank you for your prompt reply!!! I feel less nervous now!!!
As for interview questions, as I said it´s my first try in EK but I know that most management there are ex-BA people!!!
So I suppose most questions will be similar to the BA 2-2-1 interview.
The typical questions I guess will be similar to "give an example of when you received good customer service" - "which of your previous jobs did you enjoy the most and why" - "tell us of an occasion when you had to act upon your own initiative" - "describe one event when you gave excellent customer service, what was the outcome?" - "tell us an occasion when you had a problem with a superior. What happened? How did you resolve the matter?" (This one really made me sweat!) - "describe one event when you worked as part of a team" - "describe when you had to help a colleague. What happened? How did you support them?" - "why do you want to work as cabin crew? What are the positives/negatives of this job?" (Make sure you say one negative but show that you are not fussed about it!!) - "why did you apply for XYZ? What differs us from other airlines?"
When I did my BA interview 2 xears ago they also asked me some general aviation knowledge questions like concorrence on routes, fuel price rising, SARS, 9-11, Iraq war affecting the operations, and share prices. Since "Sir" Maktoum takes care of the latter, I wouldn,t worry too much about this for EK. But maybe having an idea of why airlines are struggling so much -and EK is doing great- could be an advantage!!!!
Hope this helps. I remember my BA interview so well, it was very challenging but when they called me 1 hour later with an offer the feeling was unbelievable!! So enjoy it, 2-2-1 interviews are where the best of you comes out!! I hope I can get to that stage....I am very scared of group interviews, some people talk too much and I am more on the quiet/reflective side.
Last thing.....when you choose your examples, make sure that you choose those where you´re directly involved with customers/people. If you don´t have one in particular invent one if necessary and "rehearse" it. Better do this than say "I am sorry I cannot think of one".
Good luck my darling, let me know how it goes and if these questions have been helpful. When is your final interview? If I am succesful at the first stage mine will be the 31st. I wish I could skip the group interview!!!!!!!!
Keep me posted
Love

THANK YOU!!!
Thanks guys - you are all fantastic! This website has given me so much support over the years and it really helps when heading into each interview!
And yes...thats what I did today. I had my final interview for EK and boy was I nervous before I went in
Last night I sat down with a list of possible questions in front of me, trying to think back over my employment for interesting examples of customer service etc. My mind was a blank and all I thought was oh my god, how am I gonna get through this
I gave up after a while and said...all I can do is my best. So I went to bed (tried to get some sleep - which I did cos I bought new satin bed sheets yesterday hehe) and woke up this morning ready to go into battle!
As I driving to my interview, it crossed my mind that it was Friday the 13th and it was cold and rainy! Was this truely a bad luck day?? No of course not - because all of a sudden across the sky shone a beautiful rainbow, followed by the glorious sunshine! Thank God cos I didn't want to get wet walking to the hotel hehe
I got there a little early as always. I ran to and from the toilet a few times just making sure I was ready and didn't have mascara all over my face or lipstick on my teeth..oh and to pee cos my nerves were seriously getting the better of me haha! Then Amilita came to take me in for questioning
I sat down in a small room with the recruiters, shook hands, sat up straight and smiled. Amilita was fantastic. She made me feel really comfortable and the interview was so relaxed it actually felt like a discussion. Rhanda ( is that her name ) wrote down everything as we spoke.
I got asked various questions, firstly about my previous flying job - why I left? did I enjoy it? Then I was asked questions about a time I have received a complaint from a customer against me, or from a fellow work colleague ( help me someone please!!), and then came the nicer questions...examples of a time when I've given good customer service, helped a colleague etc.
Finally the question of all..where I really wanted to shine but I didn't quite get to say everything I needed to...why do I want to be cabin crew for EK?
The interview I felt went very well. I tried to stay calm and relaxed, as well as listen to all the questions carefully, pause, answer and smile. I tried not to talk too much but it is also very easy to be critical after you walk away from the interview! We did finish with a few laughs and giggles about flying on the A380 with 500 pax, and it certainly lightened the mood!
At the end of the day..I don't know what the outcome is going to be. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and wait to find out...but I feel that with a little more maturity and experience behind me...I may be in with a very good chance
Thanks for all your support guys, it really does mean the world to me. You are all awesome!!!
And they all lived happily ever after.....THE END

That's classic!!!
though from what you say later, she sounds a decent sort, it's probably just the tactic to try 'scare' off the less suitable ones at the open days... hehehehe.........
I think Rhanda would have scared me more!
Seems like it went well, now the waiting begins.
Find a new hobby, focus on work, just don't think about it!!! Lol... going down the road of microanalysing is the way to get an ulcer!! C (the one who already got in) said she heard it's pretty much you're in, so most of the stress is over. Now just gotta wait for that ME beauracracy to kick in, and spend ages waiting for paperwork!!
Well done for getting this far, and I have a good feeling about this one......
Now have a good night's sleep on those lovely sheets!

i was tempted to fly back to perth for the open day, but i couldnt afford it
maybe if they come to sydney i will apply again....
craic, congrats! its a great feeling to get that far and now you just have to sit there in agony waiting for some sort of sign ( i got an actual letter about 2 weeks after the 'your crap, we dont want you' email, though it was an exact print out of the email!)
sky, glad to see your still around, with so many broken hearted people, your cheer will always bring out the sun (if thats too corny, just replace it with something else :P )
just saying hello to all the new anf old faces. and dream with regret of what could of been....

Medicals
I've been reading this thread for a few months now, and I really like all the information everyone has.
I hope to fly to Dubai soon and try to set up an interview there, a friend that works for Emirates told me this was a GREAT way to get hired.
One thing that I've been concerned about is the medicals (like the person above me!)
If anyone has ANY information in regards to this it would be MOST appreciated!
Ciao!

Guys I don't exactly know how they do it but I read on another forum that yes, they're very strict.
Apparently they send you a form for your doctor to complete and you have to send it over together with the results of some tests, including eye test, earing tests, thorax x-ray, teeth x-rays, and ladies, pregnancy tests are a must and so the results of a smear test taken within the last 6 months. All teeth works must be done before moving to DXB, otherwise you won't be covered by the insurance which is part of the deal.
I am not sure in the case you have some particular tooth work to be done (I for example have a wisdom tooth that needs to be removed but cannot do it just yet) whether they will just exclude your teeth from the coverage or if it is a total loss of the insrance or if they don't give you the job at all....I will try to find out!!
(scary!!)
If you guys have any more info please share it. I am very worried about that too, but I have decided i MUST concentrate on my forthcoming assesment first!!
Take care everybody and good luck!!!
