Hello Nordic Jet Set

You really just need to put any names on the sheet and if you get the job then you need to show the refrence letters. So donīt worry!!

Korea

I read on the Emirates recruitment site that they will be recruiting in Korea in April. The details on the site haven't changed for about a month. Is this normal for EK? Has anyone heard if they won't be coming to Seoul?

Tempegoodness,

EK r opening new route for Seoul this year, so they will come to Korea for sure. Do not worry!

Speaking about their website, they are very slow when it comes to its updating, so keep checking.

Hi,

this has probably already been asked however, don't have the time to scan through all the pages so........

Are EK doing pilot scholorships for non middle eastern based people, i.e can you re-locate to Emirates for training?

Cheers.

Mark.

Emirates have a sponsorship sceme for UAE nationals.. so unless you have a great great granny from that region you haven't much chance getting a sponsorship with them. To be honest I have never come across any low hour pilots in Emirates or most other Middle East carriers. Majority of pilots heading to the gulf seem to have at least 3000 hours jet time .

However Qatar Airways are currently recruiting low hour co-pilots which is something to consider when your finished your training.

FAST TRACK interviews

Hello!!!
I am currently flying for BA and I have read that I can apply to EK just by emailing the CV and pictures.
Has anybody done this yet? I would be very grateful if anybody who's applied in this way and had their interview could give me any kind of uselful information (what they're looking for, etc).

You would save my life!!!

I am dying to get this process started but am still waiting to get some decent pictures (I know how important photos are for them).

I am soooooo nervous my god, I never wanted anything this much!!!

THANK YOU

FBW

Hey congrats Jobo! Thats great news, you are one of the few to meet EK criteria and flybywire unfortunately hardly anyone knows what they are looking for (we can only guess), they wont tell why they accept or reject people, but maybe jobo might be able to shed some light as to how s/he got in???

Hey you all, and tank you for everything

Flybywire. I wish I could answer your question! But I donīt think anybody knows.

But itīs so funny that the ppl who made it to the final interwiew, we all sat next to each other, It might be a coincidence, Iīm not sure. But it was kind of funny. We were all very different, but we were all girls and young. There were 2 of us who were blond and 1 of her didnīt get the job, so they are not going by that

I really wish there is something I could tell you. Exually there is 1 thing, the ppl with the "big mouth" (talked a little bit to much) they didnīt make it. So just talk modest

Well if you have any questions, shoot

fast track

Hey Jobo, thanks for your reply!!
It's always nice to hear from people who have been successful....I really hope I can get this job because I have 1001 reasons to move there now, and Emirates has always been a dream of mine anyway

I have two questions.....

1) if you've applied with fast track system, did you add a cover letter to the CV? I would like to write one as I have always done but am a bit scared of going on and on....

2) Hair up or down? My hair is quite short but I could probably tie it in a mini ponytail, using a bit of gel and hair spray. It would be tidy but not "natural". I am very worried about my image (never been before!!!)

You'll probably fly with somebody very, very precious to me one day soon....you lucky thing

Thanks for your help again!!!

xxx

Hi, Iīm not sure about this fast track system? Are you talking about the experienced ccm that have stopovers in Dxb and are invited to do this fast track thingy? If so Iīm not sure how that works. I sent them an e-mail but never got a reply so I just got a normal invitation from the ppl in London.
And the thing about the cover letter, I donīt know, because I think that they only need to see what you have done in the past! On my Cv I only put down the last 3 jobs with like 5 word describtion! (and ofcourse the the other stuff on it) So mine was really well organized and easy to read over. It should not have any speaches.

And the hair! Just wear it neatly, because if your hair is short then just have it normal not to tight back. But Itīs really just about looking professional!

Donīt worry about a thing, youīll be great

So who is this precious person?

Frenchguy read back a bit, there is lots of info on how the process goes and should answer your questions, if your after something more specific then just post again.

Flybywire, at the EK openday in Sydney the recruiters mentioned they had scrapped the whole fast track assessment thing, that they didnt do it anymore for various reasons. As for a cover letter, i didnt have one but i did write 4 or 5 lines "marketing" myself on the 1st page. (though i only got to 1st round of interviews so maybe you should listen to jobo instead of me ) Good luck in any case, dont stress about your appearance, yes you need to be a little "glam" but make sure you still feel comfortable.

Same here! I had a little "Summary" which was about me personally, then I had a few lines for "Career Objective" - e.g. why I wanted to be cabin crew, my career goal (e.g., EK are the best, I would like to work for the best) Highly unoriginal, I know, but it seemed to work... for a while, anyway...

thank you guys for your help!!

RE fast track, it is advertised on the recruitment site, it is for cabin crew who are currently flying with another airline. I have been flying for 3 years non-stop so it would be ideal for me.

Why would they still have this process on the site if they don't do it anymore?

I am so worried about my hair (sad, I know!!!) but maybe I'll take some pics with my hair tied at the back (they want one in my current uniform) and one with my hair combed but not in a ponytail. We'll see!

Jobo.....you have to promise me you'll take care of him till I can do it myself (hopefully)...

I cannot believe how nervous I am, I wasn't half as paranoid when I applied for BA!!!

Thank you again guys xxxxxx

interview 24th april 2005 at LHR

hi, SYDEY I would like to know if they restart recruit males, They 're not allowed in Europe to say just female or male at the moment, it means discrim.

I would like to try again with EK even if I was succesful with Etihad Airways because salary is less than EK, no allowances. I have a friend flying actually with EY more than 100 hours. May be, because new airline, they're dezorganised.

What do you think about that? It's very difficult to make decision!!

Ek recruitment process is very strange!! décision strange as well!!

You don't know if during the group interview you must speak a lot or keep silent

Flybywire, i hope that it still exists for your sake but i know EK arent the best at updating their website and i was only telling you what the recruiters told us, so unless the recruiter didnt know what she was on about.....

Frenchguy, unfortunately i dont know how EK works or if they are just recruiting men or women, what i do know is that if you want to try, then go ahead, just be yourself, you can never know what they are looking for so dont try to fit any image you think they are after.

As for Etihad, the salary may be less but it is a new airline and there are allowances similar to EK. I have had no trouble with them and they have kept me well updated from when they said i had the job to security checks to giving me joining dates. AND they were very nice and accommodating!

Anyway all the best to both Flybywire and Frenchguy, let us know how you go.

EY allowances

Thanks for the informations, I've received my contract from EY, there is no allowances, just 210 AED every duty day.
It means that if you have 3 days lay over in London. You'll get 210AED for the flight AUH to LON and 210 AED LON to AUH the second day in London you'll get nothing. It's not flying hours. You'll the same if you 'll fly to Mumbay, Karachi, Delhi same price for all destinations.

Congrats on getting your contract frenchguy. I know that you get paid per day but i have read on another thread that they also have meal allowances even though its not mentioned in the contract. I have to say though if your are really dissatisfied with the terms and conditions set out or even if your heart is still set on Emirates then you should do some serious thinking before you accept. You should keep in mind though that Etihad has only been operating for under 2 years and Emirates have been flying for years so theres bound to be some differences and EY will be improving, the fact that its already offering standards close to EK speaks volumes in my opinion.
